Assemble it with 2-stroke oil as an assembly lube and make sure your 2-stroke pump is properly primed and working. It will start feeding 2-stroke oil directly you start the engine. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Follow the throttle cable. It splits into two, one half will go to the carb and the other half to the oil pump. On the pump should be a screw for priming it, should it ever be run out of oil. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

What Pete said is correct, however a fail safe method is to use half a litre of premix, disconnect the 2T oil feed pipe from the carb.
Start it up, (it's easier with two people to do this), while you rev the engine turn the fuel pump by hand, to the max, until you get a good, regular flow of 2T oil coming from the pipe, then connect the pipe to the carb.
If you don't have a clear 2T pipe this is the only method were you can be, reasonably, sure there is no air in the system. ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

It'd be a lot easier to not mix the oil yourself!
A few reasons for this, if your mix isn't correct and you run it too lean or too rich, both are bad for the engine. And every time you fill up, you have to add oil, so if you fill up every time the reserve comes on, chances are, you'll be running it rich. If you do pre-mix, you have to be good with maths and figure out how much oil you need per litre, and figure out how many litres are in a full tank, best way to do this, is probably to empty the tank, completely empty, then fill it up to the brim at the petrol station and write down how many litres it's holding.
When I had a two stroke and had to mix it myself, I used one of these:
https://csimg.pricesavvy.co.uk/srv/GB/29045726b007hlaiha/T/140x140/C/FFFFFF/url/fuel-mixing-bottle-mini-moto.jpg
Mixed the amount of oil I needed into there, then get a jerry-can of unleaded (5 litres) then add the exact amount needed to the jerry-can. Never had any problems with any of my two-stroke engines using this method.
If you do mix yourself, don't forget to give the bike a good shake straight after filling up, to make sure the two-stroke mixed in. |
