Coming out of work tonight, I gave my bike a nice thrashing on the way home. I've only had it a few days and wanted to see what'd do.

The only time I let the revs go above 8000, my headlight dimmed down for about 10 seconds afterwards. Very strange.

Its a 75 Honda CB750.

Any ideas?

Might be a ropey battery...

My bike did this, the battery seemed to be fine but it was on its way out. I think because it always started (even in the cold and wet) on the second or third turn, if however it didn't (maybe no choke or something); it died on its arse after about 5 or 6 turns.

After a week or two, the battery just no longer held a sufficient charge, indicators were weak, headlight was rubbish etc.

Went out and measured it with my multimeter. Battery is holding a charge overnight at 12.5 volts. When I started the bike, it went up to 14 and when rev'd went to 15.5. So I think its just fine.
