So the Kwak went in for a service on Monday, my mate who recommended the garage claimed good rates and honest workers.

The lad i know works 5 minutes from me and owns a GSXR750, i've seen it from the begining to where it is now. His intentions are to fighter it, he's taken off the fairings and upgraded a few running parts.

He took me on the back of it to the garage to pick up my 7R. Now i haven't been a pillion since my DAS, i was shitting it back then and we were doing 30-40mph and took one roundabout at snails pace. I told him to take it steady as i am new to the pillion game. Neutral

He is a good rider, smooth, but borderline insane when it comes to speeds and corners Shocked
I don't think this guy has ever seen what's between A & B, he just knows he got there.

I'm holding on for dear life, the view i have is completly alien to me, im behind some mentalist holding the bars in total control of me and my safety. Overtaking on the outside of corners at 80-90+mph, he know's these roads and the bike is seriously well maintained. I do feel safe, *who am i kidding* but those long sweeping corners have me baffled as to how the bike stays on the black top with two people on board. Confused

The Kwaks not ready....im pissed, they had 3 of the 4 plugs i needed on the shelf so i've got to leave it for another night. The lad i know is annoyed also, after some chatting at the petrol station down the road, he points at his pride and joy and offers me the keys..... Twisted Evil Thumbs Up

The bike sounds like something from WW2, and the reason i say that is from the reactions it gets from the elderly....they literally put their hands over their head and get down a little when this thing roars through the town.

It's brutal in more ways that one and IMO is something the Gixxers of today lack, i love old skool, and like this bike.

He calls the missus for lift and im left stood next to this thing....

She's warm, full, and ready to eat road. I actually have butterflies holding the key.
Sat on her and she feels solid, the key goes in and turns, clunk. Smile

Now i've noted how he starts this bike....if you treat it like your first love it'll loose interest. I press the starter and it sounds like it struggles, but with some blips of the throttle she burbles and pops into a rather odd sounding tick over.

First thing i must mention is the straight bars, i ride a ZX7R and this feels like the old TS125 i used to have, only this has a slightly tuned 750 lump. Cool
The throttle needs to be treated like a bad step child, constantly smacking it to keep it inline. Im at the exit ready to roll looking for that space im going to need.
The bike has been down geared, it has adjusted clutch and a quick throttle action....i leave the exit with a lot of noise, power and exitement between my legs.

This Gixxer can hit a ton before you can say "Kawa....." the power i imagine is rather like a small twin, it's smooth when travelling along at a constant but there are considerable amount of G's taken when decelerating and accelerating.....the power delivery is not all that friendly, with the two teeth extra on the rear other traffic seem almost stationary Surprised

The straight bars were a concern of mine, but once used to them, combined with the damper, i was having a lot of fun being in a more upright position but with all the handing of my ZX7R.
I must admit by the end of the next day i didn't want to give it back, i had a lot of fun on it, and it is a real head turner (although most looks were that of disgust).

I got back on the 7R and it felt awesome to ride it again, it is quicker, it is sexier, but that isn't all what a bike should be.

Cool Thumbs Up Bikes are wicked

Always loved the J, K, L and M models, Especially the L and M's since they had USD's.

Tell him to re-route the clutch cable, Looks pants where it is (At least the fairings used to hide it) Razz

Fancy one soon? Wink

It sounds like you had an awesome test ride & an incredibly scary pillion ride, the thread actually makes me want to try an old GSXR out...

Indeed, The guy i stay with has the 1100 engine in a (hardtail) chop, Been Pillion on it once. Brute power.

The oldskool GSXR's are way cooler/better than any of the new ones IMO.
