wondering lately as I'd consider my GPZ high mileage at 37000miles,

I only consider it as this as I seem to be going through more and more parts and burning more and more oil.just wondering what mileage anyone else here has hade a kwak 500 of the same engine as the GPZ upto mileage wise?

why did you get rid of it?
or did it die?

Hi

Charlottes one was at about 45k (and about 18 years old). Still went fine, but got stolen.

All the best

The engine out of my old GPZ has over 70k miles on it now. Admittedly it is in a diferent bike now. The original lived outside most of its life and had maybe been crashed one time to many.

I put it's problems down to the fact that the mate I gave it to only took it out once a month or so. Keep using them regularly.

Mind you, it did have a head gasket at about 35k, that may have been more down to my sustained wringing of its neck for several hours.

change the oil regularly, replace the camchain at around 50k and they should last a while. I'm planning on getting 100k out of mine before I look at getting another.

mine had a new camchain early in it's life 17000miles

it was a courtesy bike for a few years, then Ive owned it and I'm too snappy with the throttle.

just clearing the grage now to make room for engine proceedured, first we need to find this electrical problem.. lights are on but wont turn over...

I think M1ke's one was fairly low mileage when it developed a serious oil slurping problem, less than 30k iirc. It was generally quite abused though.

Kawasakis in general are well known for magically disappearing oil when they have a few miles on them. Just keep topping them up.

Does this just mean the OEM piston rings on Kwaks are crap or something? , burning oil at 30K is borderline criminal I do more than that in miles a year and I'm not a courier.

They've always done it. The original Zeds were some of the worst. The odd thing is, I have no idea where it goes. None under it, no smoke, clean plugs, clean exhaust. Then when you strip it, no serious blowpast or marking on the pistons (or no worse than any other bike).

No, Triumphs just piss the oil all over their parking space.

Had thought that Kwak were one of the companies that were consulted before going into production.

Mine said 17 thou on the clocks, but I was told it had gone round. So 117 thousand.

Had a few problems but none with oil, I once went to change the oil and found hardly anything in there, topped it up, jobs a good un.
