WTF! They charge you the same for a cbr 600 rr from 2007 as a cbr 600 f from like 1998. It's the same class. That's all they put it on. Fuck stats, they just see them and say, look about the same.... There's what? 20-30 bhp difference! I was quite fancying a Thundercat but it's the same thing there

Could see that it's a good thing - you can get a better bike and not pay more on insurance Smile.

Go and find a tatty later bike.

that doesnt seem quite right...

ive just been getting quotes for a bike i am currently interested in buying.. zx10r.

anyway i got the quote with no security and just locked in garage and heres a rough guide to how they came out. fully comp

zx10r 2004- £283
zx10r 2006- £750

so i figured i would buy a 2007 bike and then say .. 'yep its after 2004 and get the cheaper quote..lol

Think they may suss that..... Embarassed As soon as the reg No goes in.... Sick

Sure you could put a private plate on it, but one crash latter. Its Mmm this not a 04 bike. Or it gets nicked and you only get a 04 £ payout....
Ouch thats a lot of money wasted.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't spain different to England in that they don't show age of vehicles on reg plates.
If that's true then he won't get caught Laughing

Considering the person i quoted is showing living in Lincs, which last time i looked was slightly north of Spain. I fear he may.

Aside from the point that you may save a couple of hundred quid, there is the possibality that if nicked you would lose far more....

Judging by previous posts theres a high chance he'll need to claim on it. One input of the frame number and the numbers up. Insurers arent stupid. Conmen yes, stupid no.

'98 F3s have a hard steel frame, 07 RR's have a lightweight ally frame that bends easily.

Basically you can do more damage to someone on the older bike, so your insurance will cost more; it's also got older brakes and doesn't handle as well, so they think you'll be more likely to come off it.

Be happy, I tell insurers im 18 and they laugh.

Heres a couple of phone calls I remember when I was calling round...

----

"Hello, Andy speaking, how may Bennetts insurance help you today"

"Hi Id like insurance for a ZX6R please"

"And your date of birth please?"

"10th april 1989"

"Right..."

"So can I get insurance?"

***********Dead tone*********

"Take that as a no then"

---------------------

"Hello, Devitt insurance consultants, Ian speaking how may I help?"

"Hello, Id like insurance on a ZX6R"

"Sure no problem sir, can I take your date of birth"

"10th april 1989"

"You cant ride a ZX6R"

"Yes I can, I have a full licence"

"No you dont, you have to be 21"

"Umm..im restricted to 33bhp, already had a word with the dealership and they can get a restrictor kit within a week for the bike"

"Well theyre lying, and all you can have is a provisional and CBT"

"No, ive done theory and a practical test, I have the licence right here in front of me"

"You cant have insurance without the proper licence"

"I do have a proper licence damnit"

"You cant have, your 18 not 21"

"Arse bandit" *hang up*

----------------------------------------

That should pretty much sum up the sort of answers I get when I phone around Rolling Eyes
