Did anyone watch the live version tonight?

It has to be the worst live presenting I have EVER seen. It was dire. they didn't know what was going on and looked troubled the whole time.

Also, their 'best' list is best for some people, not so good for others. I live in Winchester, their 2nd favourite place and I can't wait to go back to Birmingham... Halifax even!

Ha ha! Me and the missus were saying that. Truly awful, like they had just got some kids off a media course and said, 'go on, have a go'.

Middlesbrough is a shithole from what I've seen ( only been 3 times ) but I would rather live there than Neasden or Harlsden any day of the week. The figures it was based on came from the residents themselves, right? Like 1/3 admitted to binge drinking regulary and that 1/3 smoked... perhaps the people of middlesbrough were just more honest and open to doing the research. There are LOADS of places in London that are a living hell, it's no wonder people are upset by the 'Worst place to live' tag.

Exactly. The towns they rate well do totally live up to the sort of middle class, slightly (or very) snobby attitudes of people who will watch that programme and get into property.

Its basically another way for people who watch that programme to look down on others.

There is a difference between the richest areas, which essentially they were and slightly more grotty areas which have a wider range of amenities etc.

Surely on their terms, living in a Hamlet in the middle of the Scottish highlands would be the best place as crime is down, anti-social behaviour is down and space and cheap housing is up.

For example, Nottingham has a lot of good things in the centre (as they pointed out) and also great surroundings, but the main reason it was in the bottom 10 is crime - i.e. poorer city where crime is more prevalent. It seemed it was only crime that gave this place a bad name - Everything else was discarded.

I'm glad me and the missus weren't the only ones who thought it was terrible. It was cringe-worthy. The presenters were wodden, had no idea what they were meant to be saying half the time.

And the interview at the end with the residents of Middlesborough was terrible.

It was as if they were trying to be the Oscars or something... "Don't worry next year you can turn it around" blah blah blah.

Very Happy

I'm sure we wont have to worry about seeing those snobby tits on the tv too often! Very Happy

Nottingham is not really a poor city. Fairly well off city really, just with a couple of rough areas. Has been bad for crime for ages (early 90s it was listed as the most violent city in Europe). Probably very similar in reality to Oxford.

Anything like that will vary greatly depending on who gets asked / answers. For example in Winchester you would probably get quite different answers between Chilbolton Avenue and Stanmore, despite them being next to each other.

All the best

Keith
