Quck heads up. My local dealer was busy so I booked the GPZ500 in for an MOT.

Sailed through the last one.

1997 bike but only 17K on it.

They failed it on front and rear disks and on the play in the linkage.

£650 quote.

Took it to my local dealer.

Back disk fine as is linkage.

Front disk a bit dodgy so changed. £230 with MOT.

Fucking wankers. Evil or Very Mad

you have to be careful as most mot'ers or dealers will try an take people for a ride to get much needed cash in.
have to be weary about stuff like this.
my rear disc needs replacing come to think of it, its a bit warped.

I use a trading standards approved MOT place that doesn't do repairs. Never had a problem with them.

Never really trusted them TBH. Don't get a good feeling from the place. You must live right near me then?

Yeah Woking.

Woking Yamaha (who I have mistrusted in the past) were very good.

They did not actually accuse Portmans of being thieving bastards. But the looks say it all.

If anyone from Portmans is watching I have the paperwork.

The opposite can also be true. My bike failed last week on (amongst other things) the back sprocket being worn. I got new bits and swapped shizzle over. A friend counted the teeth left on the old sprock; a grand total of 19 remained. The rest were worn down to in-curled claw like things.

It passed last year with that sprocket, no way could it have worn down to that extent in 12 months. Its only a 125, an underpowered one at that. Last year, they did fail it on my L plate covering the back reflector though (also needed a new back tire, but I wonder if they'd have failed it if it didn't... Thinking )

Chilworth Tyres, they are fooking mint. Best place I have been too for service, I always tip them.

I have heard some other extortionate stories about Portmans too, I will never use them.
