item number:170158868914

Any opinions on it?
Im not really too happy with riding a er5 but it would do as a first big bike for now.

Any ideas what there like compared to the cbf500 i use on my lessons ,power/size/reliability.e.t.c.

The bike sort of looks like my old hyosung comet which i really liked and would have kept if it was quicker.

Thanks...
Dave

If you are not happy with it, then don't worry about what any one else thinks.

If you are not happy with before you have bought it, then don't buy it.

You, never know, you might be surprised, but is it worth the risk?

What is it that you're not keen on?

Seen one of these a while back on westgate road and it looked small.
And it only has a drum rear brake.
But then according to the reviews it should be an ideal first "big" bike Rolling Eyes .

Had my heart set on a bandit or some kind of enduro style bike...

It seems obvious thats it not what you want, so don't buy it. I guess its going to go for over £800 anyway.

Its obviously been dropped a few times and the guy has repaired it, ask him how long he's had it for. He might have changed the clocks as well since there is no proof of mileage.

Its always a risk when you buy off ebay, either you accept that and live with what you got after you paid for it or you take a good look before.

Nothing wrong with a rear drum on a bike that size, you can still lock up the rear if you felt like it.

Thats just a few, on bike trader, do not be impatient, you will get something you dont like and ruin it for yourself.

Wait a couple of weeks till your budget is bigger and get something you really want.

I don't see why you are rolling your eyes, they ARE ideal as a first big bike, do a search on here and you will see that.

I've been searching bike trader, but most of them are miles away.
I cant ride a bike home so it means hiring a van.looking for something within 50 miles if possible.

i was rolling my eyes at the BIG bit,as from what i seen they arent that big...but they would be classed as a "big bike" as in over 125cc Thumbs Up
will keep an eye on it and see what price it hits...

At the risk of breaking the record, go for a gpz500, have got one and its a great bike, with a bit more top end than the er-5, iirc.

Don't worry about the rear drum brake, it may not look a smart as a rear disc, but it is very effective. My gpz has one and its never been a cause for concern.

I meant to mention that if you look at the front disc then its appears the bike hasn't been ridden for a bit.

£535, did you buy it?

I was really tempted to but no it was'nt me.
Gonna try and find a KLE500 instead.
I know if i bought that ER-5 i would have een sick of it in a week or so.
GPZ500 is on my list of wanted bikes aswell, but im gonna try really hard to wait for the one i want.
A enduro bike would be nice Laughing

CB500 would be better if you could afford. I happen to need to sell mine quickly because I'm moving and need the £££ to put down a deposit. I've had both the er5 and cb500. The cb500 has a better, stronger engine. Has a nice kick at 8k revs unlike the er5 and it consistently does over 58mpg with me. Smile 1997 model, 45k on the clocks, fitted with heated grips and a large topbox and rack. Reasonably good nick.

£600 to you squire, only because it needs it's mot and tax soon and I don't even have the money to do either. Will pass the mot absolutely no problemo. Smile Can deliver too... Wink

Just found out that the MOT doesn't expire till next May 08. Smile So £630 all in to a BCF'er, I thought I had a damn good bargain when I bought it for £700 so even more so now. Tax runs out this month but that's only £30 if memory serves me correctly.

I'm in Reading unfortunately. Can't really be arsed delivering it but if you were interested, I would for the price of fuel up there and the price of a train ticket home to Reading. Smile Pictures can be found here:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=290159850883&ssPageName=STRK:MEUS:IT&ih=019

I haven't had it long at all, only wanted it as a run around really. But as I said, need the money for a deposit on a room (usual deposit for a place in London = £600-700!) I'm not the type to lie to someones face in order to get a sale so feel free to ask any questions. The heated grips needs a new control unit - I tried to wangle one from Oxford but they weren;t having any of it. Sad Think a new unit should cost about a tenner if that. Lots of service receipts and previous MOT's to prove the mileage and that it's been looked after.

Cost would be too high with the fuel/train expenses,e.t.c.
And it would be a looonnngg ride for you coming up from there Laughing
That is a smart looking bike though.

No problemo. I'm advertising it on other forums at £700. Long ride, not at all, my parents live up in Scotland and I've already been up 3-4 times this year on a bike. Fuel up there (300 miles), I reckon would be about £25. But it's cool, I'll advertise it all over the place tonight.

Not a problem for me mate. Pm me when you'd be up for it. I reckon I'd be starting work next monday so preferably before then really. Smile Only thing is, the V5 isn't back to me yet (primarily because I haven't sent it off since I bought it Embarassed ) but I'll do that on monday and once I get it, I'll sign it and forward it on. I've got over 11k posts on this forum so am not your fly by night bike seller who you won't ever hear from again. Laughing

I try. Razz I shouldn't really have bought the cb500 to be honest but I needed something to commute on to get to interviews and what not.

Good to know about my old er5. Very Happy What mileage is she on now??
