Not crome. chrome.

That should help with your internet searches anyway.

Try looking in the back of classic bike or car magazines for adverts.

There are plenty of chromers. I know there's one in Hoddesdon area.

Buck if you ask your local garage they'll tell you who's the closest.

Hi

You can get DIY nickel plating kits for ~£150 that would probably have enough solution to immerse that (OK, need a battery and a large tank as well).

If the exhaust has been used I suspect you will struggle to find any commercial place that will plate it.

All the best

Keith

Chroming will be expensive as its a very toxic process. It isn't just a case of dipping the exhaust in a liquid, that would be just painting it.

Also, you're picture shows two different types of metal which may need to be handled differently. It would be worth calling up a Chromium plater to see how much they charge, but don't be shocked when you find out it is a lot of money.

Second page in Google when I searched for "Chromium Plating".{edit}

Round £100 - £150 doesn't sound far off.

I would guess at £150 but only if it has never been used.
Most chromers will not touch even a soiled four stroke pipe never mind an expansion chamber from a two stroke.
The oil and carbon will contaminate the chemical vats.

Hi

If used then I would suggest that you buy a new one and get that chromed. Chroming uses large vats of expensive chemicals and the last thing they want to do is contaminate a load of it for one small job.

Failing that do it yourself. Might not be such a good finish, but you can do other bits while you practice.

All the best

Keith
