If that did happen then it could possibly put the 400s back on the market. Which would be good! Smile Thumbs Up

140kg with 70-80bhp, revving to 16k. that would be sweet.

The 250GP bikes make over 100bhp, I think the KTM and some others make about 110bhp so they'd need to make more then 70-80bhp to be competitive.

MotoGP have said there probably going to start fazing out 2 strokes in about 2010 so that will be an interesting few seasons.
I think they will introduce a 250-350ish cc championship and 400-600ish cc championship to replace the 125/250 2 strokes.

Interesting Al, so what with the 800cc motogp bikes or don't you know? How long are they sticking with the 8's?

I don't think there are any plans to change the 800cc class, it was only brought into place as the 990's were supposedly getting to powerful. I suppose at some point in the future they could inforce some kind of stupid power restriction to slow things up again.

There is a bit about a 600 class in MCN-
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/mcn/2007/september/sep10-16/sep1207motogprulesfor600ccmotogpclassdrawnup/
Although MCN normally exaggerates everything I think the basic facts are true.

It sounds pretty pants with production engines and RPM limits, but I suppose it would make for close racing with fairly even bikes. At the moment the leading 250's are a world apart from the ones on the back end of the grid.

It will cause loads of problems for the 2 stroke teams such as aprilia, KTM though who say they may have to pull out. The only team that seem keen are Honda. I guess with all there extra development budget and the fact they already race 600 4 stroke production type engines in other race series, they think they will have an advantage, but then look how they fucked up there 800cc GP bike Confused

I wouldn't want a quick 400. Half the fun I get out of them is riding a slow bike fast.

When the 2-strokes are out they're supposedly meant to be replacing them with 200cc singles, and 400/450 v-twins.

Admittedly, I haven't watched a lot of motorbike-racing; but that clip was far more interesting and exciting than most of the stuff I'd seen prior. If only it was always like that.
