...basically, I was trying to figure why it couldn't access the internet at home (despite connecting to my wireless network, and being able to ping externally, and setting the DNS servers etc...)...and for some reason, I decided to try to remove it from the domain, and onto my home workgroup.

I now realise that I should've created a local user first, as I cannot log into the laptop now (and we don't have the local admin password).

I've looked on Google, and found a couple of similar cases and associated solutions, but they've not gotten me anywhere so far. Basically, first solution was a tool called "ERD", which could be used to change the password, but M$oft has since taken over the company that originally made the tool!

The second solution I found was a tool called "DreamPackPL". I've downloaded and gotten to encouraging levels with this, but ultimately, it seems to fail - for some reason, it can't find the hard drive in the laptop!

Oh, it's Windows XP Pro BTW. I'm sure that the IT admins at work can sort it out on Monday, but I wanted to get some work done over the weekend...

Any help etc would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

You could find a version or Hirens CD on a torrent site or file share,
Boot from that and use one of the password utils..

Cheers mate. I managed to find it last night, but thanks anyway Smile

Still can't get it to connect to the internet though, and I've got a feeling that it's just something really stupid.

Have you checked the proxy settings?
