Does anyone know how much i would be looking at to insure a restricted ZXR 750. Iwill be 19 with two years no claims it will be garaged and for tpft. I imagine it will be really expensive but i read somewhere they are really cheap to insure?????

oh definately lol

but compared to a gixer 750 or something, they cant really be put in the same group

however i have no clue why its costing phoenix so little in different to insure the 750 over the 400

ZXR750s come in two varieties like the ZXR400, the J(H) and the L, my quote was on a 1989 H model. I should imagine the insurance wont increase much on the newer L's either...but it will. The ZXR750 is a completely different engine to the Ninja series (6R-12R) and the 7R is even more unique, the ZXR750 is not as powerful.

I believe a lot of the insurance is done on how often people have a accidents on that model of bike.

The probability is that on average people that buy older ZXR750s are more liklely to be older more experienced riders who aren't looking for the fastest-latest greatest thing. Thus zxr750 owners are probably less likley to crash and therefore have cheaper insurance.

What age is your ZXR400 and what age was the one you compared it with. Do you think they will make a good second bike from an NSR. What will the engine cope like with the 33bhp restrictor in it???

My ZXR4 is 1989 and the quote i got on the 750 was for a 1989, I got it because the guy made a mistake and put me down for a 750 by accident.

Well depends how long you've been riding to be honest, but I think the jump from an NSR to ZXR4 will be the same as the jump to any large 4-stroke (bar ridiculous ones), take a little while to get used to the power but you'll get along fine, even moreso if it's 33bhp. The ZXR750 will take restrictiors well so that won't be a problem.

The only thing I have against the idea of going for the 750 is actually what you're gonna get for your money. They tend to be a bit more expensive than the 400s and there are far fewer around, and very few low mileage ones. Look in biketrader, I think there's 47 ZXR400s in it currently at very reasonable prices, you've got much more chance of getting a top nick 400 for a reasonable amount of cash than you have a 750.

eh... Confused Confused there are 47 zxr750's in bike trader at the mo Confused

You can usually pick up the 750s from about £1250, which is pretty good value IMO. Okay it'll probably have trouble keeping up with a modern 600, but it's got plenty of potential.

Hi

The ZXR750H models are pretty much treated as a classic now, and price wise are going up in value. Geoff had one (somewhat tuned) until recently

All the best

I agree like the early oil cooled GSXR's the old H versions are classic 80's sports bikes, that still look ok today, and yeah a newer 600 is a far better bike, but theres nothing like a nice old NINJA! Remember the 900R in Topgun? wonder if that was when i first became a kawasaki nut? Only prob with ZXR's is the riding position, need gorilla arms and short legs to stand it even for a short distance.

Yes, except it was actually a GPZ750R, Kawasakis flop attempt at a 750. Take one 900cc bike, shrink the engine slightly in capacity (but dont save any weight) and try and sell the bike as a top 750. Get ass kicked by FZ750 and GSXR750, retreat back to workshop and do the job properly with the GPX750, like this one:-

Had this one for 3 months in Australia

All the best

Im showing 37 ZXR750s on bike trader, although there's so many H models and loads the cheap ones are all H or high milers, ZXR400 is more cost effective.

That Pic Werzx is indeed a ZX-7R different styling to the 750, it'd also cost you about £1800 to insure TPFT Razz

I saw a couple of ZX7s the other day, and they we almost literally lying over the tank the whole time (only going about 30-40mph)...so now I see what people mean when they say that they're uncomfortable.
