Right I HAVE searched for this as I am sure its been discussed before but I cant see the answer.
GPZ500 - Famous for a dodgy cut out switch (the one that stops you riding off with the side stand down). Its started cutting the engine even when the bikes in Neutral. Also stops the starter motor working properly with the side stand down it sort of trys and does not turn over. Battery fully charged. Everything else working fine.
I've liberally WD40'd it and now the side stands a lot easier to use
But thats a bit of an aside .
I jave a feeling that a lot of people just disconnect it. I know we have a lot of GPZ500 riders here anybody able to tell me how to do this ? Or any other suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Aye, the idiot switches are a nightmare of wiring too, feindishly complex.
What model GPZ? You can bypass the whole lot at the level of the CDI by bridging two wires but I need to know if it is an A,B,C or a D and later model. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Black on green wire from the IC ignighter connected to to earth (earth= Any yellow on black wire or the frame) either at the IC ignighter box or at the fuse box. This bypasses the whole ignition cutout system.
This leaves the clutch switch/neutral starter interlock in place. To bypass this (so you can operate the starter in gear if you want to and so a switch failure doesn't lock out the starter motor), either connect the yellow on green at the fuse box to earth or connect the yellow on green at the clutch switch connector block to the yellow on black in the same connector block (the light green is now surplus to requirements, just leave it where it is).
Please test this using a temporary 'jumper' wire before you go cutting any wires (basically bridge both the black on green and the yellow on green to earth at the junction box and check it all works, especially the neutral light).
It's been a while since I did it to mine and I just worked that lot out from scratch on a wiring diagram. I don't recall having any difficulties but it's always best to check. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
