Hi i have got a 1997 honda cg 125 now when the bike is warming up everythings ok but after a good run the clutch will keep on biting when changing gears and doesnt let go till i need to change gear. clutch cable is in good working order and freely moves. also when i bought the bike the chap said that the throttle cable is sticky and said it needed a new one which is why it will keep on revving to high rpm. so i got a new one no change i then took the carb apart cleaned it up and set it up to manual settings still no change. tick over is set to none exsistant because the racing engine takes over so every time the bikes running it just shoots up to engine busting rpm i am in the process of finding a CDI to see if that is the problem Any ideas?? thanxs all

Sounds more like you have an air leak between the carb and the engine. With it at idle, spray WD40 over the inlet manifold area. If the bike revs up, you have an air leak.

Sounds like your clutch needs taking apart to find out what's wrong with it, could well be a notched basket.

Very much doubt its a CDI problem mate. I know you said it was racing before, but have you routed the cable as it should be? as far as I can remember they run a slide carb do they not? check the return spring to see if thats causing a problem aswell. Does the idle speed adjust when you turn the bars to both full locks, hows the freeplay?? If there is an air leak you may well hear a hissing sound from around the inlet which is easy seen on those bikes. Theres a few factors to consider here!!! As for the clutch Im still confused about whats happening!? When you change gear it bites but it lets go when your ready to change gear?! Shocked

CDI definitely not the problem, the reason the throttle is called the throttle is because it throttles the engine, i.e. controls engine speed. Nothing else does. So, either air leak or jammed open throttle slide. I believe one of the big mistakes with those carbs is to re-assemble them with the slide in the wrong way round and that effectively wedges them open.

I don't understand the clutch thing either. Those bikes have a weak clutch, so if you ask too much of them (as you may be if your engine was at max revs all the time....) they SLIP while letting out a hideous yelping noise. Is that what's happening?
