My grandad is here for a few days and is purchasing his first bike for 15 years, he doesnt want a plastic fantastic or a harley but something that shows his age a little ie a cruiser or traditional. nothing below 1000cc. he's got a lot as hes just sold his jag mark II(the one that moarse drives) so i dont think price is an issue. oh and he is interested in a few sports bikes. i suggested the GSXR1000 but he thinks its a little quick for him....what d'ya think?

Hi

Yep, sounds like he doesnt want a race replica. Bandit 1200, XJR, ZRX, GSX1400, one of the big CBs.

By the way, suggest that he gets a refresher lesson as I doubt he bounces as well as he did when he used to ride bikes.

All the best

Keith

What about the Honda Pan European, now there's a big bike that noone below 40 would hardly ever buy...

GSX? Rolling Eyes Smile

I'd agree with G/Keith, although a Harley V-Rod is quite tasty...

Yeah, I like the V-Rod too. One of the few unfaired bikes I'd consider riding. And the fact that most harley riders hate it would please Zak Very Happy
I like the Pan-euro. Nice and comfy

You have an XJR too? Wink

I'd say that it depends hugely on how often your grandad goes out on the bike, and what sort of journeys he makes...for comfort and touring, it has to be the Pan all the way, but for cruising, it needs to be a muscle bike Smile

(that's what I think, anyway Smile)

I think the ZRX1200 looks the bollox in Lawson rep colours. I hope to have one some day Smile

A V-Max would be good too, but the early ones might be a little too powerful for him
