owdo chaps.

Since the weather turned cold my BT014 rear has rapidly detiorated to the point of it being dangerous. Even in a straight line the bike feels like it's skating and it'll consistently lock if I use the rear brake too much.

Around corners it's stepping out and around a roundabout this evening it was fishtailing. I practically went round it sideways.

Loathed to get another 014 as they'll get chewed up and I'll prolly only get 1000 miles out of it before I have to bin it.

Anybody got any suggestions for a good alternative? I was thinking about a dual-compound one but not too sure what would work best on my CBR. Obviously I'll have to change the front as well if I don't get the same type.

Cheers.

I've had good wear out of a set of Contiforce road tyres on my bandit 600. Seem to be well balanced in most conditions and wear is quite even. So far got 700 mile from them and they look like they've barely broken in.

I use BT021, but they probably won't suit the CBR

hook up the Michelin Pilot Sport 2CT, the dual compound tyre theyre the dogs for the bad weather i switched the Hornet over last month theyre brilliant, warm up quickly keep the heat, only problem iv come across is if you let your tyre pressures drop they dont hold the road as well as they should do, hope you rectify your problem.
keep it shiny side up

Had the same problem with the BT014's on my ZX6R, in the end i've gone with a BT014 on the front and a BT020 on the rear.

The rear seems to have lasted ages and i commute 100 miles a week and its still not that square after a year, plenty of tread and plenty of grip this afternoon on the twisties!

Only problem is my front tyre is already needing replacing and it's crap in the cold n wet but that's to be expected really.

Just changed to these from Pilot Powers - should last longer (3k to a rear!!!! Thinking Used to get 4 from the Michelin)

Work lovely - got the KD today on a run to the shops, so can't be bad!

For winter I'd get some Contiforce. M&P have them permanently on offer at £110 a pair, and on my 660 they've lasted a good 6k miles. Need a new rear now, but front is looking fine.

Grip is pretty good, the front especially.

I had BT021 on my Thunderace, took it in to fix a puncture, was told they wouldn't bother as it is 'squared off' anyway - on the side walls. The middle was round and barely any use, but the sidewalls were proper flat, not round at all.

Got a new one on, bike feels much more stable in the bends, doesn't want to 'fall over' at slow speeds, but might take it a bit easier as £83 every couple of thousand miles for a front ain't much fun. Back one is same BT021, and again, round in the middle flattened on the sides, but I'll try and completely wear out the tread on the edges before it gets changed.

Big heavy bike+big heavy rider+hammering it round corners equals squared sidewalls Sad Don't think there's any point in getting softer tyres for me.

Other than that I'd say the BT021 is a decent tyre, ok grip in the wet, grips well when it's not square...

2CT powers for the win.

Only done 10 miles with them and they already feel far better than the 014s. It turns in a lot faster and the back sticks to the road like glue.

woo.

+2 For Conti Road attacks, on my 2nd pair on the ZX6 now and they have rarely stepped out of line.

Had a set of Dunlop Sportmax qualifiers on since May and they're a top set of rubber. Plenty of grip and I've done about 5000 miles on them including a track day. Now they are feeling a little skittish so I'll change them next week as the rear is squared off.
