any one have any experience of the shoei XR1000 lid?

looking at getting one, just seen one in my local bike shop for £239 in my size too!

was looking to spend a little less but don't want to miss a bargain!

i was going to wait for the NEC bike show to try to get a bargain but i think i may have found it early.

I've had one for a few months now and can't fault it. It's quite light, fits me perfectly, isn't too noisy, and looks great. I have the Joust TC5 paint scheme.

I've been vary interested in one of these.

Get paid on friday, only problem is, i don't have a bike shop reasonably close to me, so i'm not sure if i should chance it and just order online.

Crashed in two of them, one pretty hard and the other low speed but hit cracked my head pretty hard on the deck when I landed funny.

Found them comfy and good quality. The second one seemed to be noisier than the first one strangely.

Both did the job when the time come but I did end up with a concussion the first time and some kind of suspected concussion with the second one. Can put up some photos of damge if your curious?

I’ve had an XR1000 for a little over a year and love it.

Initially the only problem was some of the padding was a bit firm. I found that the cheek pads were so tight against my face that I kept biting the inside of my cheeks. Also my left earlobe would ache after long rides...

Happy to say that the helmet wore in quite quickly and it’s super comfortable now. The ventilation is the best I’ve ever had. Open all the vents and you can literally feel the wind rush through your hair, although the shape of the liner leaves “plough furrow” marks in my hair if I put the helmet on with wet hair.

I strongly recommend a pinlock visor. One came free in the box with the lid or I probably wouldn’t have tried it. No misting ever, in any weather. Just brilliant. I bought a black visor with its own pinlock film and the quick change system means I can swap them round in seconds.

I just bought a plain white one because I’m a bit of a cheapskate and resent paying up to £100 extra for a factory applied paintjob. However no matter what colour it’s a top lid.

Make sure that it’s a good fit. I happen to have a Shoei-shaped head, but not everyone finds them comfy.

Ive had one for a couple of years, really light, the only thing i would say its a racing helmet so use ear plugs on longer runs. Get a mirror visor looks class. As said above, the helmet hurt to put it on at first but am glad i got the size i did as it now fits like a glove and the visability is great. Well woth the money in my eyes. Pinlock is great i got a tinted mirror visor and clear pinlock works great.

Great helmets. I had mine for 2 years too. Nothing wrong with them other than the liner is not fully removable so getting a more customised fit can be difficult. Small was TOO small and Medium was a smidge loose. I ended up buying thicker cheek pads for it. Also a helmet of that spec should ideally come with a chin curtain - which it didn't so i nicked one off my HJC and that sorted the problem.

Good lids, ultra light, vents work awesomely and pinlock is a godsend. Get one with a black visor and you're laughing. It shares my headcaring duty with my arai which i prefer at the moment because its less draughty. Lightest lid i've worn.
