Soooooo? Old Peppers is planning to get out and about on his motorised-bicycle again.
This time I be mostly thinking about Wales!
I`m possibly thinking about getting into Wales from a starting point of West Bromwich onto Brecon and then using the A470 north to Mallwyd and it`s surrounding areas.

Anyone used the A470? is it any good? to busy?

I seek your advice and comments oh widely travelled wise ones

A470 can be troublesome due to traffic and policing. Get to Rhayader & take the A44 to Aberysywyth, which is a blinding road if you catch it traffic free. And don't forget the B4518 Llanidloes-Machynlleth road. Smile

Very Happy Well it`s all planned , not going to be using the tent.
My missus works for a hotel chain and got me some discount on a couple of places Smile .

I`m going to do this little trip in shorter segments than my last couple of trips which have involved 2 or 3 or 4 hundred miles a day.
This time it`s going to be between 80 and 150 miles a day.
This will give me a bit more time to see stuff?.

First day will be Ipswich to West Bromwich without using the A14 Confused to pick up my co-pilot.
Second day will be into Wales and Brecon and a scratch around to see what`s about.
Third day will be from Brecon to Mallwyd to do much the same.
We will be doing the highest road in Wales while we`re at it.
Forth day is Mallwyd to West Bromwich missing out as many main roads as we can.
Fifth day is West Bromwich back to Ipswich solo, again trying my best not to use the A14.

As the distances are not so far this time , I might get to take a few more pictures Thumbs Up .
Been on the AA Route-Planner website, bought a pocket sized AtoZ of Great Britain, Wired in my sat-nav Thumbs Up .
Serviced the bike.
New sprockets & chain and new rear tyre coming before I go , so all should? be good to go.

I don't go for another three weeks yet , but I`m looking forward to it like I`ve never done this sort of thing before??
All my previous trips have been done solo, so riding with another bike will seem a bit strange.
I will be on my Hyosung GT 250r and my mate will be on his 750 GSXR so let`s just hope he doesn't hold me back Smile .
I offered him the chance to use my Superdream 250, but for some reason he declined?, can`t think why?

Any advice/information/hints regarding these destination is welcome Thumbs Up

Heyup. If you're Mallwyd bound then Lake Vyrnwy is worth pootling around.

My advice would be to not bother with sat nav. Let yourself get lost a few times a day. Say if you're leading and see a sideroad heading off up into the hills, explore it. Single lane tracks were made for bikes. Thumbs Up
You could maybe use the sat nav if you hit reserve and need a petrol station. Smile
Keep a good distance between each other...more time to take it all in.

FWIW I had no problems with the rozzers. (I checked with the Welsh Section concerning my loud exhausts..Given the Thumbs Up ) I kept to the speed limits in built-up areas and went whatever speed I felt appropriate when in National speed limit areas.

Hope you have a great time.

The sat-nav is back up.
Yes I intend to get a bit lost a few times just to see where I end up!

Let`s hope my co-pilot doesn't mind to much?

I see you`re touring on a 250 as well Thumbs Up ten-out-ten Thumbs Up

New chain , new sprockets, new rear tyre, bags packed and all ready for the "off".
The weather forecast is positive, so I`ll have to try and change that? , I don't want all that sunshine and warmth on me and my bike Smile
I`m still taking waterproofs , after all this is the west side of the country we are talking about.

I recon the dry warm weather will bring out a whole bunch of bikers and the plod will not be far behind.
You wont catch me speeding, that against the law Wink
Really looking forward to it.
