 |
|
first off
why does a bike jump out of gear, when ever im trying to make maximum progress i.e overtaking, pulling away faster than someone else, or just goin for it in general, in first gear, rev to the top, change up, start to rev through 2nd gear, then MMIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! its dropped out of gear into neutral
i have certain problems with this:
1)your head refuses to continue to work until the bike is in second gear again
2)by standers natural reaction is to run for the nearest air-raid shelter
3)motorists become alarmed, which may cause them to do something stupid, like ride into me
4)it doesnt look cool
if its normal, then can i have a technical (keith ) explanation as to why, and what is happening inside the bike when this is goin on
i have a feeling it may just be my shite gear changing though, so if thats the case, got any tips?
ive tried being really positive footed, but i have found once or twice, that i have managed to push it too far into second, which causes it to drop into neutral between 2nd and 3rd (if you understand me) i have no clue what im talking about, so do your best to set me straight
also, about lubing the chain, do you just spray the chain, down by the driven gear (i.e the back wheel), all the way round, is this enough?
cos my thinking is, that it will only get the outside and sides of the chain, and not the inside, again this may just me being stupid, but any thoughts would be good
and also how much do i put on, my chain lube is gold, so i just sprayed it all the way round today till the chain appeared gold, correct?
thanks for the help ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

urrr, you're overtaking cars in 1st gear on a 250?
You're in way too low gear mate on a 250 you only really wanna be in 1st when u pull away or are waddling along filtering. As for it slipping out of gear, could be a knackered clutch but I very much doubt it, maybe you'r not quite pulling the clutch in enough..letting it go too soon or not timing it right. Basically though, dont ride off in 1st gear go upto 16K revs then change up to second, id change up as soon as you're moving at a decent pace. |

phoenix, im not trying to call you wrong or anything, but the CBR can do just over 45mph in top gear, i dont normally change up till over 10k when pulling away cos the power doesnt start till about 12
and yes keith, its still under warranty, ill contact box hill tomorrow and see what they say
thanks for the advice both of you ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

You probably need to be quite near/in the redline when you nock it up on a 250/4, otherwise the engine'll drop out of the powerband... well that's what it's like on my NSR anyway |

yes, and i thought the idea was to change gear whilst in the overtaking process anyway, but either way you are forced to on my bike, cos you need 16k plus to make really good progress and you need to redline ever gear, cos it sounds so good ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

i had that same thing with my Tzr i just popped out of gear,
it tends to be a worn spring thing inside the gear box, not a huge job to fix just a bit messey,
Get it back 2 the shop |

I know i only had one go on it, but i didnt seem to have any probs with the gearbox goose. Either way, I'd get it back to boxhill and get em quickly to have a look before they try to give it ____________________ -Zimma |
