Well a bit of an embarrasing post but hey, Been there done that (Remember: 'Kissing Tips' people? Embarassed )

I'm 18, 6ft 2''ish and occasionally on the heavier side of 16st.

Always had a little bit of fat around me but over the last 5 years its been more evident...Quite a big belly(stretch marks!), Wide hips, Heavy thighs and the most annoying...moobs Mad No other places of my body really show it though.

Eating habit is/was a fair bit of junk food, I'm a salad dodger for the simple fact i do not like the taste of it. Will eat fruit if i'm in the mood for it. Eat quite a lot of sweets but over the last week or so i've totally avoided them. Been having a mug of hot chocolate before the ride to college, Lunch at 1ish (Usually a subway) then dinner at about 7, Been avoiding snacks and not too hungry.

Never really done exercise, Used to love swimming but since i've had the extra 'female looking' weight i've been too embarrassed to go, Would like to get back into it. Dont mind pushbikes either, Cant really do running because my knees and feet get sore since the bike accident (Back also gets rather sore if i'm on my feet for quite a while too)

It drags me down quite a bit sometimes...What do you reccomend for losing some weight (around said areas)? Wouldnt mind gaining some muscle too but i guess thats to be concentrated on after weight loss.

Pressups, situps & crunches. 6 - 8 weeks of those and you can get back to swimming.

Sounds like pushbikes will be your fortae.

Go cycling for 1-2 hrs 2-3 times a week and watch your diet a bit, you'll be fine. Thumbs Up

Do weights, and sort your diet out. Plenty of protein.

Crunches here: https://www.fitstep.com/Library/Exercises/Crunches.htm plus a lot more info if you look round the site.

My personal opinion is occasional drinking is fine, weekly benders probably isn't.

Motivation is the biggest problem (I found). Tell yourself you'll keep it up for a month and then quit if you don't see a difference, but make sure you have a fair go at it for that month.

When you get there - assuming you've kept at it - you'll be surprised at what you've achieved. After that it's up to you... Thumbs Up

Not in the form of protein shakes mind. If you are already larger that you want to be, stay well clear of them. They made my guts quite large at one point Neutral I found creatine is a awesome substitute, your muscles contain natural creatine monohydrate anyway so this builds them without making you fat.

Check out his e-book, I've been using that for a few weeks, and have lost about 2 kgs, and have still retained muscle.

Can't imagine how protein shakes could give you a gut if you used em right.

I wasn't too sure on that either. Perhaps because I rarely do any cardio at the gym, just weights. Get most of my cardio through rugby.

Protein shakes can help you lose weight. + Retain muscle.

Rowing might be ok on your back depends what part of it hurts I guess. Very Happy

Weights at a Gym are just as good if not better than cardio.

Keep up your diet, take your time and you will be fine.

Do not eat too little you will start eating yourself.

Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Fuck diets, just do exercise. I've fannied about for years trying to cut down my food.

I gave up on that analogy. I now play 4 hours of football over a weekend. I enjoy it and it absolutely knackers me out. I'm pretty damn sure the weight is going to fall off me.

Obviously I look at what I eat. As a student it is hard to avoid a few late night benders and the obligatory 15" pizza, but it aint going to hurt that much. Thumbs Up Laughing

I used to be like this, back when i was 14 i was a fat little shit, now i look back and realise im thinner, mainly cause im taller but i have been concerntating on food too.

Dont eat as much, go along with some mates to football or something, rugby maybe? That helps...

Go on rides with your mates (If they have bikes) And take a big walk, you said that your feet hurt but surely riding your bike is excersize right?

I brought a set of weights, i have a fair bit of tubby stuff on me and loads of people have said it can be converted into muscle, so maybe try that, i got these for £30 from Argos so take a look...

All the best.

I think the biggest problem you will face is the amount of change you have to face at once. If you followed traditional advice, then over night you will be expecting yourself to go froim a junk food lover to a good eater and from being lethargic to being energetic. That's a hard change to do all at once, and one you'll probably fail at since you'll feel like your sacrificing so much.

For starters, eat slower. You stomach has a delayed reaction in telling the brain its full. Theres a five minute lag between brain and tummy! Which means by the time you feel full you been horsing food down for an extra five minutes.

Drink plenty of water with each meal. Besides aiding metabolism the water bloats you and aids that full feeling.

I'd change your diet over first. Always eat breakfast as soon as you get up, this starts your body burning fat. Dodging breakfast actually puts your metabolism on hold until you eat some food.

Fruit is always a good way to start the morning. I used to blends a box of fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries with a banana and water. Make some on a Monday, store it in the fridge and you should have enough for the next five days. Thats about 3 of your 5 fruit n veg from a glass Wink

Next thing to cut out is white bread, white pasta, potatoes and white rice. Eat only brown bread, wholemeal pasta and wholemeal rice if these are your staple carbohydrates. The problem with whites is that you body turns these into sugar very quickly and you get an energy spike and in turn your body then stores the energy as fat (if your idle). THis doesn't occur with wholemeal food and your get a much more regulated source of energy (plus more fibre in your diet).

Try and eat more veg. If this means going to a sunday carvery and loading up on carrots, peas, broccoli then dousing the lot in gravy then do it. You will realise that most veg doesn't taste that bad and after a while you will begin to crave good food rather than junk.

Stop eating subways. The bread is loaded with sugar.

Take some fruit with you to work and try and eat smaller meals. After breakfast, have a bit of fruit maybe two hours after then lunch then mid afternoon have another small snack.

Once you have the changes nailed (and their not that drastic), then look at your calorie intake. To loose weight you need to burn more than you eat. If your idle then a diet of no more than 2000 calories a day is probably enough. This is VERY important because large people can sometimes think that they can eat an infinite supply of good food, but like everything else, eating 20 oranges in one sitting will fatten you up (I've seen that on a programme before).

As for exercise. I'd possibly start walking for 1 hour four days a week. On week three knock it up to 90 minutes then two hours. After six weeks you will have noticed a drastic change in your body shape. At that point I would take up Vee's advice and get a push bike and replace the walking with cycling 3 times a week. THen bung in some swimming.

The key though is this. Make the changes slowly. Unless your very strong willed you will never get a good routine by just changing overnight.

Finally, have a treat day. Eat whatever you want, just don't be fucking eating a 4 thousand calorie pizza followed by 1 kilo of chocloate! Laughing

A point worth noting is that a bad diet can have detrimental efects on your exercise. Eating shit food can leave you prone to sugar level crashes whilst training, or see you passing out. Not really the kind of stuff that inspires confidence on the road to a better you.

Bad food will also hamper your body's ability to recover.

I haven't read most of the replys, But the usual 'Situps, Pullups and pressups' will NOT make you loose weight, Not at all, It's a waste of time.. If fact, if done right, will make your belly look larger as the muscle behind the fat is growing but the fat is still there, So it pushes out.

The best advice I can offer is cut down your portions. Your stomach DOES shrink if you eat less and you feel a lot less hungry.

Eat little but often, Your body can process it best then.

I used to eat a whole pizza when I came home from work, Chips and whatever else was left on anyones plate later on. I couldn't think of doing that anymore as I physically can't eat that much. I sometimes think i'm eating more than I used to but when I add it up i'm actually eating all the same things but in much smaller portions.

The key is shrinking your stomach. I've told a few of my mates and they back my claim. Your stomach DOES shrink.
I watched a program about a fat American kid who got some strap around his stomach which made it 2/3 smaller. He lost shit loads of weight in a very short period of time.

It only takes about a month to shrink your stomach, I do believe that my mother has done scans on stomachs and they shrink when eating less but more often.

I also believe i'm talking shite now, so good night, God bless, and remember to wipe up after yourself.
