To be honest, it's more impressive than Rossi doing well in an F1 car. Just my opinion though. Smile

I think him being that quick on 2 wheels is more impressive than Rossi in an F1 car.

I'd say it's easier to go from 2 to 4 wheels than 4 to 2.

Hmmm, impressive riding, but one has to ask is this pure undiluted talent, or is that ducati that far ahead of the other bikes Thinking

*Slaps Vee silly*

How dare you.

In all seriousness though - do you REALLY believe what you're saying? That the bike is so good it can make an average rider excellent?

I'm guessing you are a Rossi fan??

I'm not saying ol' schumi is an average rider by any means, just that the duke may be giving him a slight edge, specially down the straights.

Not your average Harley rider then.

5 seconds to a lap record is going some, that's only loosing a fraction of a second on each corner...

...that can't be solely down to the Ducati - the Hondas have come on song towards the end of the season. Also, Valencia's only got one "straight", I doubt he would have made much time up on that section of the track. Technology sure does play a part though, he couldn't get that close on the 990, and would be even further back on an old 500.

I bet some of the good riders on BCF could do a time close to that on that Ducati.

I just saw that now. God, that Shumi bloke is as tarty as me with his leathers and alpinestars blingness!

Remember back in the day when people were harking over "ooh err Rossi is 5 seconds within schumacher's time around the test track??"

I'm not discrediting valentino, but this german bloke proves a point. Sure i might have thought that he was a bit of a tosspot when riding in formula 1, but getting within 5 seconds of the champ's time on his bike on his circuit has given him greater credibility and somehow, i'm liking the idea of respecting Schumacher as a biker!

Like Gaz said, i think it's quite an achievement for him to accomplish. Mind u F1 and GP are like chalk and cheese but fair play to the man anyway.

Despite all of that, i couldn't care less on what the time is like - the bloke's kitted out head to toe in alpinestars and arai so that's a good enough reason for me Thumbs Up Mr. Green

Call me old fashioned, but five seconds, in any motorsport, is light years away from being competitive.

It's five seconds, on a track, that's a bloody hell of a lot of time. Carbon brakes and some more time on it, would probably find a couple of more seconds.

After that, it's where the talent part comes into it.

It's impressive and knowing how competitive Schumacher is, it's hardly surprising, but it wouldn't put him in with a chance to go out and win a MotoGP race.

Like who?

Considering a fast rider around Donnington, for example will have to be pretty good to beat a 1:50 (Ron Haslam can does a 1:44 or so on a standard Blade), that's some way off the 1:30s or so attainable in BSB and MotoGP.

For a non-competitive ride, 5 seconds off Motogp lap record pace is going some. Break that down to loosing an average 0.3 seconds per corner or so and it becomes a little more apparent.

Its impressive. I like it Thumbs Up

Trouble is, schumi couldnt just "accidentally" destroy the left rear side of an opponent in a motogp race Razz cos theyd both be fookin dead!

Therefore, I dont think he would go out and win one, in like, his first season. Would be cool though Smile

Makes me sick how someone can be that good at two different motorsports! Mind you, once youre good at speed, youre good at speed, I suppose Thumbs Up
