"Motorcyclists today. Anyone who ventures onto the roads of the UK will be aware of the quite dreadful driving exhibited by so many motorcyclists - dangerous to the point of recklessness for their own lives and for those of other road users. The very vocal motorcycle lobby leaps into action at the slightest hint of criticism, no matter how well deserved, with a defensiveness bordering on hysteria. Police enforcement of the law is met with reluctant acceptance at best, and all too frequently by outright hostility........."[/quote]

Can't see the vid @ work, but if a biker, or some bikers want to ride like fuckin loonatics, why not? aslong as they're only endangering their own lives, and only take themselves out, they know the risks when they start her up.

I vote we set up a website, "nobrunstrom.com" Twisted Evil

ROFL

OMG it's so dangerous going pretty much in a straight line! People can't handle a corner at speeds over 50MPH They're just asking to kill themselves! Are these people mad?! Shocked

There was only one thing I would've had second thoughts about and that's when they udnertook a car that was being overtaken. Everything else was just flowing along easily.

If that's really bad and dangerous riding then the 2 ride outs I've been to were catastrophic! Laughing

Looks very similar to my commute from work this morning Thinking just with less over and under taking. I seem to recall, whilst cutting through motorway traffic at around a ton, thinking about what pizza I was going to eat later on... obviously not aware of the massive dangers I was facing!

The SZR will indicate 125 if you put enough effort in. And that's about the time the rev limiter kicks in!

If car drivers checked their mirrors a bit more often they would see the bikes approaching in the fast lane and pull over to let them carry on without having to under take.

I know you shouldnt "really" be doing much over 77mph on the motorway (everyones allowed 10%) but everyone speeds. It just winds me up when people sit in the middle / fast lane doing 70mph, When there is nothing in the slow lane. Thumbs Down

There's a bit of a contradiction between the youtube description and what the link says:

Quote:
Of course we in North Wales police recognise that the majority of motorcyclists are decent law-abiding people, given a bad name by the hooligans. So we don’t just enforce the law, we spend a lot of time and effort with the motorcycling community trying to improve driving skills and behaviour, and teaching them how to stay safe.

The weird thing is I speed regularly, easily up to 150mph when the conditions allow. 100mph between here and Brighton and back is common-place. And I've been doing that on every single bike I've owned since 1977 (well, probably not the TS125 I started with back then), yet the only permanent injury I have is a cracked knuckle-socket and a missing ligament next to it. And that was caused by a car running me off the road at around 20mph as he tried to turn into a carpark across me.

According to him I should be dead, along with some members of the public.

It's not speeding that kills, it's bad driving/riding. That includes going at speeds innappropriate to the conditions or one's abilities (where speeding is a secondary function of the bad driving/riding).

But hey-ho, we'll do what we like, regardless of the law. I'll decide what speed is appropriate, not some sackless poof in Westminster. Middle Finger

There is no "fast lane" anyway, you should be on the left unless you are overtaking.

Indeed, 'tis the "overtaking lane" only to be used for overtaking.

Really annoys me when people call it the fast lane, I know of some people who, because they'd been taught it was named such, once they passed their driving tests, believed that they had to be as far right as possible when travelling at over 70 mph. They seemed to believe this was safer, but when pressed, could not explain why.
