In defence of the negative stuff we hear.

I was forced off the road this morning. Someone pulled out of a side road to my right and the only place for me to go was onto the verge. Luckily no pavement or kerbs just grass, mud and a hedge. Almost controlled it but managed to catch my foot on something which pulled me over and me and the bike ended up looking like swamp thing.

Anyway first to stop was a transit with two blokes in it. They helped me up and picked up my bike. My knee was killing me but since this is a regular injury I wasn't too bothered. I told them not to phone an ambulance, I was hobbling but not likely to die from my injuries, let someone who needs it get it.

One of them said they needed to phone their boss since they would be late. Having made the call he said 'the boss told us to stick the bike in the back and take you home'.

I gave them a case of beer for their trouble, decent blokes, all of them.

He wrote down the date, time, place, his details etc....

Some are decent, some are bad, like car drivers.

ive come across good and bad, the worst always seem to be the local building companys who think they own the road.

hows the bike?

True but you rarely hear of the good.

Not sure on the bike, it looks fine, but then again it has a nice layer of mud and leaves over it. Wink

The wife is going to clean it afterwards, she's already hosed down my clothing.

We were once on a bike ride (push bikes) and going down a cobbled hill and my brother just smashed into the dry stone wall on the side of the road. A van turned up and gave us a lift to the Halifax Head Data Centre and got my brother all patched up in the security office whilst I watched all the security camera monitors.

Thumbs Up to those van men!

most of them are ok, I ride at the same time to work everyday and pass the same van, he always flashes when I am far enough ahead to be able to pull in, and some of them even move over to allow me to filter in almost standing traffic. They are definitely not all bad.

It is as in most cases, the minority give the majority a bad name

Winner! Laughing

When my dad was in a hit and run a typical chav in a hoody was the only witness but he was sharp enough to put the other guys reg in his mobile and ring the police.

Thumbs Up

I seem to pass loads of the same vans on my way to work and on my way home. Most of them move over in slow/standing traffic apart from 1 guy, in a red van!

Don't forget - some of them are bikers! I drive a white van from time to time (usually with bikes in the back) and always try to be extra courteous to bikers I come across.
Remember it's not the van that's to blame - it's the chap behind the wheel!
