Hey Guys
I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed light on this matter a little better than i have.
I was involved in a bike crash, back in 2004, some blindly cretinous smeghead reversed the fat arse end of his ford mondeo out onto a rather busy main road, blocking my lane as i was trundling along towards him at 40mph, and leaving me with about 50ft to execute the most fruitless emergency stop ever.
Needless to say i didn't fancy meeting the arctic coming the other way, so I resigned myself to my fate, braked and lent back for all i was worth.
Leaning back saved me being pinged over the roof, but it also ripped out the tendons at the back of my knee and gave me a beautiful concussion from smashing into his roof panel.
Anyway, the helmet i was wearing at the time was barely about 5 months old, a nice black Caberg J1+ the flip front ones.
The only damage to it was where the visor hit the roof and bent out, none of the back came into contact with anything, and I'm hoping to get the visor replaced.
I've found my closure, I've saved my pennies and I now have another CBT under my belt (passed last Friday) as well as a nice little Diablo Prince sitting in my driveway, all ready to start again.
I'm borrowing my fathers helmet for the time being as hes the same size as me, but I'd like to replace thew visor on mine to be able to use it again.
Does anyone know what type of visor (make, shape etc) would be best for a fliptop like the J1+ and where i might be able to get one? I've looked on Google and eBay and nothing much comes up, and I'd like to know for sure before I buy one that simply *looks* like it would fit.
Any thoughts appreciated
Many thanks,
Sophie. |

no....
Dont do it. Buy a new one. It doesnt matter if it has no evident marks, it can be buggered inside. Do not chance it. Buy yourself a new carberg
failing that, get it Xrayed to see if it IS damaged, but it is likely it will be after any sort of crash. The polystyrene could be compressed too, which isnt too good if you hit your head again.
Good luck with the riding Soph Glad your back on board |
