Stinkwheel anybody?

I cant remember is i asked this before only its getting serious now.

why is my dog eating the cat pooh from the litter? she has been slapped for this and knows its wrong in fact she she even heads in that direction and looks at me her ears are down and she turns and i know what she was about to do. I cant hide it or the cats cant use it then. but its at the other end of the house hidden in the utility room.

tonight again! she comes slinking out of the utility room crunching on gravel and pooh and runs like hell cowering!

will this kill her or make her ill and why is she doing it when she knows she will get in trouble? she is a gorb and gets feed well and i am thinking she is just a greedy dog but why pooh?

Because dogs are disgusting animals who like eating cat shit. In fact, they consider pretty much anything worth a try once just on the off-chance it is food.

Telling her off may actually be reinforcing the behaviour. Try a more remote means of deterring her such as making a loud noise when she's at it so she doesn't assosciate eating cat shit with getting your undivided attention. Or try distracting her attention away with a game when she seems to be going for it so she decides that not eating cat shit is a more worthwhile use of her time.

This dog is attention seeking and gets to much attention. I thought it could be to get attention more doing bad things etc, but the vet once told me when she was eating her own pooh it was a lack of vitamins Shocked

my mate had her dog up there and she was happily playing and once she left she was on her own, went into the kitchen and i caught her while turning on the heating,. she was on the sneak though didnt look like attention as i was on the opposite side of the house on the computer. must be just a hungry bitch.

she will brings shoes to visitors on arrival for attention with her ears down cause she knows she is not allowed to eat anymore shoes.

what i worry is will it do her harm as cat shit can cause toxiplasmosis (sp?)etc

I must look for a dog behavior site again as the cat book i had for the cats was informative.

If the dog was going to get toxoplasmosis, it would have had it and got over it by now. They get good immunity to it after they've had a dose (which in a healthy dog would probably manifest as a brief dose of not particularly severe diarrhoea). Most of the intestinal worms a cat would carry are either host-specific (ie only live in cats) or need an intermediate host before they become infectious.

In short, it's unlikely to do him any harm. I wouldn't let him lick your face though (well I wouldn't anyway, he still licks his own arse when he's not eating cat shit).

dragonfly its just a thing dogs do.

My brother's dog is so fatherly to my nephew if he has a poo the dog will try and eat it and lick the boys arse clean....

Sometimes dogs will be dogs lol

*edit*
If the dog really causes you problems you could always try some new chinese recipe with it. Laughing

Yea but why the hell do you kick a dog?

I do hope you mean playfully and not a boot in the head. Confused
