As a kid, I was told about how one of my neighbours lost his ring finger. He was on a C50 or something similar, he lost control and his wedding ring got caught and whipped his finger off.

So curiosity got the better of me this morning and I googled 'ring finger injury'. Degloving is an interesting term. Shocked

Gory link:

I'm not so keen on my lunch now Sick

And I think I might start wearing my wedding ring on a light chain round my neck now

You'll still need to buy her the £1600 ring - I'm guessing you're the bike rider not her. She wont need to buy you one Mr. Green

I heard a story from one of my neighbours about a schoolfriend who had an FS1E. He came off one day and managed to get his leg trapped betwixt chain and sprocket...the whole thing had to come off apparently Sick

Never been keen on anything around my hands or wrists, watches, rings etc.

The briefings we had about de-gloving hazards in the forces were enough to put the final nail in the coffin. Nothing metal is being affixed to my hands ever.

I don't have a wedding ring, but I do have a ring that I've worn nearly half my life, except now if I'm on the bike.

When I was training I came off several times trying to do my U-turns and every time I stuck my hand out and hurt myself, so I figured a low-speed spill would be the most likely accident with a broken / swollen finger and ring being cut off - typical girl I'm afraid - worried about ring!! Rolling Eyes

BTW figured if I fall off at speed it'll be the least of my problems!!

I don't wear any rings, never have done and probably never will, married or not, same goes for watches. Possibility of above injuries is too great and I'm not the sort to bother taking stuff off before working on bike/car etc and will just end up damaging or breaking them.

so me wearing a watch, a ring, a braclet and two chains isnt the bestest thing ever

suppose de-gloving is a perfect reason to say no to the girlfriend when she pops the question

Jewelry for men is wrong IMO, this just is further support for my opinion.

Dabbled with wearing a ring when I was about 14 and stupid, then stopped because it was just a pain, and I got nothing out of it.

eughhhh thats some nasty sh1T,
i have worn a ring for like 5 year now and am really considering NOT wearing it any more..as for watches i reckon the strap fixing are so weak that they would break before any nasty injury could result.
