Plusnet
521k ADSL
£22.99 (Needs modem, about £50 but better with a router)
Best package in the country.
Check Plusnet

The company I work for owns them and I went over for training. Easily the best in the UK, cheapest and most perks for ur money.

Noooo not Tiscali!! They're one of the worst!
Telewest are cool but Cable's still a bit more limited than ADSL.

BT ADSL same as zimm. It was £75 installation a year or so ago, and that was on a half-price offer. But that's probably all changed now.

Thought about switching to cable (NTL have just started doing my area) but I don't think I can be arsed with another installation fee.

The £35 gigabit connection from Telewest is Wicked!!
Plusnet have the best ADSL. It's a £50 activaiton on the self-install package. Then just get a nice ADSL Router and share you connection with your family and friends (For a price of course).
We got a router at home, we now charge the parents a tenner to use the connection Very Happy

Popped over to the ntl site, but it says:
£105 a month for 1MB broadband
for business use.

The home 1mb is on offer for £35 a month... but only 'till 01 January 2002 when it goes back up to £50 Sad

i just use telewest's 512kb down 128 up...i think thats it anyway.
Had it for over a year and a half.
An that cost £25, would up grade to the 1024kb,
but since i'm not really using the net so much now i dont see the point now.
and i pay the damn bill, parents pay a tenner towards it though, so thats nice of them.
maybe becasue i'm a poor student.....

512kb Telewest. £25. I like it *most* of the time, but it occasionnally stops working for like 5 mins. A couple of times it has stopped working for like a week, with Telewest support being no help. It always comes back on though

Hi

About £15 a month for max 150 hours with BT, with a 56K modem. No cable in the village (stops about a mile away) and although the local exchange is ADSL enabled it is too far away

So, any suggestions on decent Satellite providers?

All the best

Keith

Im in the same situation as you Keith, except the exchange isn't ADSL enabled and is too far away even if it was. But satellite is horrendously expensive.

I too am in a non ADSL area, and will never be a cable area. ISDN is an option, but it is quite pricey, for only a small increase in speed.

Can i suggest moving to Virgin.net for your dial-up. They dont operate with a limit, which hasnt been a problem with me yet, and I have been kicked off every other ISP I have been on for excessive usage!

Wireless broadband is becoming an option in small areas, which is normally quite hard to find out if there is one nearby you! There are several down south near me, but none are covering me Sad

Sat. links, you are looking about £500+ install and then £60 a month!
