If speed kills then why is everyone going all OOh Aah about the trains going faster. Surely if speed kills then shouldn't the government make sure something that takes two miles to stop and holds 1,000 people goes slower and not faster?

Seeing as the answer is so obvious, you're probably better off waiting for Colin Wink

I understand your principle but I don't think you've factored one major issue into your reasoning.

Ahem.

What is the difference between going down on a woman and going through a speed camera?

You can see the cunt behind the bush!

It's not speed that kills, it's the sudden stop. Laughing

I was thinking more of the potential of an accident and the prevention of deaths. Going on the standard of maintenance that we have in this country I would have thought trains shouldn't go above 10mph. and like they all say" if it saves just one life" I'm sure a few speed humps on the track will help too.

Teaching retard kids how to cross roads by looking for traffic before they step off the kerb would save more than one life.

In a train though, unless something has been put on the track there is a lot less things where an error can be made. The only thing the driver has to do is slow down when he sees a red light. It's not like that he could swerve and hit the train that's next to him because he can't swerve and there won't be a train next to him Laughing

A few but it's nothing compared to the deaths on roads.
Generally trains are pretty safe.
It would be like saying how can a plane fly if something goes wrong or the pilot makes an error loads of people will die. But you have less chance of dieing in a plane than if you were driving in a car.

Remember that rail death figures routinely ignore deaths that they can classify as "tresspassers & suicides". Fair enough ignoring the suicides, but even the tresspassers figures are far higher alone. For example in the year 2001/2 there were 10 passenger deaths compared to 275 ignored "tresspassers & suicides".

All the best

Is that what the idiots who campaign against speed say? "If it saves just one life." ?

Cell phone users in cars....kill roughly 3000 people each year in America. If they wanted to save a life or two then the government could spend some money on devices to disable your cell phone while driving. But they won't. But....if a plane kills 5,000 people.....just once.....they'll spend billions to steal some oil...errr....I mean to avenge them...and keep us safe.

And they've done studies....when speed limits are raised, the number of accidents on those roads go DOWN. But you don't see them raising speed limits either. Because then they'd get less profit from speeding tickets.....not to mention angry mothers who know nothing about vehicular safety complaining about the limit being raised.

Speed kills Rolling Eyes ...... Confused
