 |
|
A couple of nights ago I waterproofed my bike gear for the bad weather ahead (and boy did it need it considering the last couple of days )!
It's one of those Nikwax spray on liquid waxy sprays which becomes very slippy when dry. I've done my best to avoid spraying the bike seat or the rear of my trousers yet for the past couple of days I've been hanging onto the bike for dear life! I've somehow managed to make the seat like riding a block of ice.
Is there any way of removing this stuff without damaging my jacket or seat so that I don't end up sat on the handlbars every time I brake!? ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
(7 year gap), BMW F650 (Relaxing ride). Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 (Big and bold). Yamaha FZS600 (got me in trouble too quick!).
Current: Yamaha TDM 900 (Comfy, light but big, power when needed). |

If its nikwax, it should come off as soon as you put water on it crap stuff.
Try warm soapy water, should come right off with a bit of light scrubbing. ____________________ TL1000s, KDX200 |

I'm just about to Nikwax all my gear again for winter (needed it after the last few days of soaking ) and what I found (after the first time I ended up sat on the tank after braking) was to put some of that anti-slip cargo mat across the seat to stop me sliding around. Works great on the back when we're two up and costs about a fiver to do two bike's worth.

That anti slip cargo mat stuff sounds good, where do you get that from then and how does it attach to the bike? ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

That stuff!
Oh well I've got tons of the stuff at home, thing is it's all white and would look daft on my bike. I suppose I could spray paint it black... hmmm interesting idea, thanks for the tip! ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

Those plastic zip-lock type bags are best for keeping your gear dry.

Just steer away from those one piece condom-type things.
They make you sweat so bad that you wish you'd just put up with the rain! ____________________ Kawasaki ER6n -> Honda CBR600RR -> Honda VTR 1000 -> Moto Guzzi Norge 1200
