I been looking at possible cars for the future and was looking at a 1.8 Ford Focus Zetec with only 60,000 miles on the clock for £2,800.

I decided to do a quote on moneysupermarket.com and see what the damage would be.

19 yo, 1 years NCB and it only comes to £808 TPFT.

Thats nearly £300 cheaper than the quotes I have been getting for my Ford Fiesta 1.25!!!

Man, I need to get rid of this purple car. Laughing

Crazy....

I had toast for breakfast and found that slicing my own bread made it taste better!

I was getting quotes for corsa's at about £1200.

Tried a 306 1.9TD, £700.
The 306 2.0HDI was 600 odd and I tried a few entry level merc's and bmw's and they were cheaper than the 1.2 corsa!

I'm 19 with no NCB, Fuck knows how they work that out. I even tried huge saloon cars and they were cheaper than a corsa..

I think it's cause 19 year olds don't really go for that sort of car, but i've been in a 1.8 Focus and they go like stink. Laughing

Even better, if I go too fast and crash into a tree Fully Comp is only £70 more expensive. Laughing

Stick it on Autotrader, you don't even have to get up off your arse. I had a Punto that went within like... hours.

Have you given up the bikes now?

There good, I had a estate version on loan to me a few weeks ago.

Did 38mpg in and around town, though I didn't like the ergonomics of the thing!

And its cheaper cos young people don't go for cars like this, they go for small cars, which they crash and cause to be higher on insurance for the rest of us. Hence why I drive a 1.6 Octavia for less than a 1.25 Fiesta!

Only for the next couple of years. I want to concentrate on completing my degree and getting "settled" i.e job and wife etc, then I will look for a bike again. My Dad has basically said I can have his 57 plate Hornet when he gets too old for the thing and decides he has to give up on the biking thing, he reckons that will be a couple of years.

Am missing biking a lot more though. (But not on the cold winter mornings).

Had a look at a Focus today in Leamington Spa. 1.8 LX with 43,000 miles on the clock £2600. Not bad, but my car is only worth £2,000 private. Sad

Have a look at a 1999 to 2000 Ghia, can get them for about £1800.

Got good kit on them too. And I know what you mean about not missing bikes on cold winter mornings!

Every one knows Jon is old before his time Rolling Eyes

Its alright Jon. *hugs*

Quotes for me on Impreza's, Skylines and Supra's vary between £700 - £1200 tpft a year at 20 in the UK.

Yet for a bike on a UK licence they want up to £10,000 Laughing Crying or Very sad

And if you think a focus 1.8 is fast .... please shoot your self Wink

Was on moneysupermarket.com

It was Endsleigh who provided the cheapest quote, but they do offer cheaper insurance for students.
