Your think those trigger happy yanks are at it again arn't you?

Well this happened here in the UK, Leeds in fact in 2005, just a week before Menezes was shot in London.

Quote:
Mr Gaubert said he was on his way to meet friends when he suffered a fit on the bus and slipped into a coma which left him slumped on his seat clutching his rucksack.

Armed police were called to the bus depot in Headingley and when he failed to respond to their challenges he was shot with the Taser.

He said as this was happening, another officer was pointing a real gun at his head.

He was restrained and eventually came round in the police van.

He said it was only then that the officers realised it was a medical emergency, despite him wearing a medical tag round his neck to warn of his condition, and took him to hospital.

Mr Gaubert said he was told the police believed he looked "Egyptian".

This is a very sad case indeed, but why did it have to happen? What got us into this situation and what will get us out of it?

People who say police are in the wrong for shooting him make me sick.

I gaurentee you will be the first to complain if the police did nothing and he was an actual terrorist.

Think out side the box ffs.

Well I guess thats me then, I try to work under the sorry ass asumption that you see someone unconcious you should help them, not shoot them to check they are dead.

You see I've seen lots of people asleep, I've seen lots of people with back packs, im pretty sure at some point in my life Ive seen a sleeping person with a back pack and Im damn sure non of them has ever exploded.

We live in a world that is being run by fear, we are being manipulated to believe that there are terrorists around every corner wanting to blow us up, but are we really in any more danger than when the IRA were blowing up shopping centres on a regular basis?

Anyway lets look at the logic behind this situation, you fully support the police in zapping someone they believe is carying explosives with 25,000 volts of electricity? does that seem like a smart move to you? how about poking him with a stick or throwing a stone at him?

Yeah your absolutley right, better be safe than sorry eh? how about we throw all the darkies out of the county to make sure, while we are at it lets hang the epilectics, drown the narcoleptics and burn anyone who owns a back pack at the stake.

Think outside the box? how about you think for yourself rather than towing the government line.

Somebody fucked up whether that be the officer that deployed the taser of the one that ordered him to do it, not only were they wrong to assault a sleeping man in this way but they actually increased the chance of detonation if he was carrying explosives.

But all this gets brushed under the carpet and we are told our heros have protected us yet again.

Each situation is diffrent. You and i was not there, there for you and i cannot make judgment on somthing we did not witness.

If you feel you could do a perfect job as a officer of the law then please feel free to take up a postion as a police officer trainer.

Till then respect what they do...

On the other hand, if the police had shot this clearly innocent man multiple times in the head would you still support the police?

ATEOTD the man absolutely was in a coma and the police shot him twice with a tazer. If the same had happened to you or a member of your family, would you (or they) be saying "hey look, don't worry about it, it was my fault for going into a coma in the first place. Perhaps I shouldn't carry a rucksack, heck they do look rather suspicious don't they. And maybe I should have worn a big badge saying "If you find me unresponsive, please don't shoot me, I'm having a fit", maybe I should tell the bus driver "hey I'm epileptic so tell the police not to shoot me if I have a fit" every time I get on a bus, same for train drivers too". Actually, despite looking quite British, perhaps I should get a skin bleach so that I don't look Egyptian to 0.1% of the population, maybe dye my hair blonde too". Anyway, I must go now, I'm off to the studio to record my appeal to all epileptics NOT to carry rucksacks and certainly not to take public transport. The first showing is just after the Ten O'clock news tonight, keep your eyes open for it?" (no pun intended)

do you ever remember police publicity stunts with CS gas and tasers?,

the armed cop shouts , police put the weapon down , and shoots/sprays BEFORE giving the suspect a chance to react.

How are you supposed to react like that? ,

Such trigger happiness , and lack of oversight just undermines confidence in police these days.
