Got some pics of the new bike today, its a honda cb750 bought off another BCF'R , it needs a little bit of work but nothing to major.

A bit of info from who I bought it off :

"The primary drive chain rattles at low tick over but is ok at around 1300 rpm."

"The tyres are fine but I think there might be something wrong with the rear valve as it looses pressure slowly"

"The rear shocks are dead although it passed the mot like this"

"The exhaust is a 4 into 1 Micron system loud enough to rattle fillings loose, and with an over run pop and bang that will make you weep with joy"

^^ Very true ,it sounds so nice !^^ Cool Cool

"I fitted new fork seals, sorted the rear brake, oil and filter change, air filter change, plugs, HT leads, fork oil, and new bars, repaired the right hand switch gear, fitted mirrors and took it through its mot with flying colours"

"The clutch was heavy and last month I found out why,
Although the previous owner looks to have replaced the clutch and gasket it looks like they forgot the springs 5 of which are 3mm too long, and 1 is 5 mm too long, the clutch still works but as I say, its very heavy because of this"

So all in all its a nice little project for me to do over the winter.

Here are a few pictures:

The front mud guard looks pants, like a choppers with the sides cut out. Is it supposed to look like that?

I just googled cb750 1982 ( which is the same year as mine) and it came up with this bike , it looks like it has the same mudguard, but I personally think it should have a chrome one on there ??

He was only asking you a genuine question jamie, i was thinking the same, its not as if you can ride it on the road.

Are you just planning on restoring it and selling it? or keeping it for a few years till you pass your test?

What I just said was not aimed at jake btw.

The reason I have a 750 is because I like working on bikes, I buy bikes and do them up ,then dad takes me out on them with me on the back , simple.

The Ariel Colt does not get used on the road so I ride that at classic bike shows.

My Honda TLR200 I ride in motorcycle trials competitions.

The reason I get pissed off when people ask "why do you have a road bike" is because I get asked it so often , so get sick of re-typing my answer.

We'll ask it more if you don't answer.

Besides, they were only interested.

Fair enough but people will ask what they dont know, unless you stick it in your sig you cant expect everyone to know without asking. Something you will get asked alot and need to get used to, bit of politeness will go along way.

You going to crome/polish it like the picture above?

Well, since the picture was take(of mine) the engine has been cylinder blacked, the old paint stripped off the frame and I have put 2 coats of new gloss black paint on.

I plan to buy 2 new/used side panels and spray them to match the tank/seat cowl ect.
Sort the indys out as they don't work.
Mirror polish the clutch cover and the stator cover.
Buy new rear shocks.
Buy new clutch springs so its easier to use.
Sort the puncture in the rear tyre.
Any thing else needed to get it through a MOT.
Might look at getting a standard 4 in to 2 exhaust aswell.

Thumbs Up

After:

https://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s297/honda_tlr/DSC00568.jpg

It just a shame the micron can has a big dent in it other wise I could of sold that and had a bit more money to put towards the standard one. Sad

Unless the dint can be gotten out ?

Doubt you will be able to get that dent out mate, though you may still get a bit on ebay for it.

Frame looks alot better with the new paint on it Thumbs Up

Right on the indy side of things: I put a screw driver across the terminals on the relay and they came on but did not flash , does this mean the flasher relay box thing has gone ?

Also got another before and after for you.

Where do you find bikes like this at that price?

I've been looking for something like this for a while but I can never seem to find anything decent like that bike Sad

The work you've done so far looks good and it should be a really nice bike when it's done, keep it up Thumbs Up
