Here in Spain a bike doesn't lose much value if treated good, and a newish 600cc sportbike easily costs you 4000-5000 quiddies. People on this forum seem to think that's absurd!
So my question is: How can the bikes be cheaper in the UK where the market is (correct me if I'm wrong) much smaller?

Hi

Mainly down to image. People are prepared to be ripped off just to be seen to own the latest bike.

Some minor justification that a new bike is not going to have any repair bills soon, but some are prepared to pay thousands more for the small chance of avoiding a bill for hundred.

Plus with UK weather it takes more effort to keep things mechanically good than in warmer countries.

All the best

Keith

Road salt is probably a huge factor, as is the whole BAB thing, and fair weather riding.

I suspect there are actually a lot more sportsbikes ridden in the UK than in spain. I reckon there might be more scooters and streetbikes for better prices in espania.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

My parents live in murcia in south spain for a few months a year and whenever i've been over there it's tough to find anywhere selling decent sized sports bikes. It's all scooters, quads, 125 sports and cruisers that i seem to see so i guess you have to pay more because they aren't as common.

Plus a bike thats done 20,000 miles in the sun will be in better condition than my bike thats done 20,000 miles through 5 british winters!
