insurance claim

How do i know when a claim has gone through my insurance company. I was at fault.
I a letter from the person i hit's insurance saying they were going to contact my insurance but I've not heard anything since.
I've been telling insurance companines the claim's cost me 300, which i guessed is what it was supposed to be, but i was talking to one bloke and he told me i didn't need to put it down if the claims not gone through yet.
It makes a bloody big difference getting insurance, its going to cost me an extra 600 quid with a claim so its kind of vital to know.

It's called a telephone.

Ring your insurance co and ask them if it's been settled and for how much.
