Best way to learn to wheelie is with a cheap bike, in case you crash it, and practise.

And sorry, but where did you learn english?

Is a good video.

Stevenage is just down the road from me. You're going to want to go down to the industrial area at the weekend for somewhere quiet to practice.

And ride your expensive bike normally, where you're more likely to crash? Seems rather backwards to me.

Definitely the 'practice' bit, though.

I'd say providing you're sensible, starting off learning to wheelie should be safer than daily riding.

Oh and use the search function, but if your reading is as bad as your writing I can understand wanting a video rather than more detailed written guides Neutral.

Yes.

Have you tried to learn to wheelie?

Pretty much everyone I know, when starting off learning to wheelie has made use of an excellent 'wheelie safety system' - namely that you get the front wheel a foot and a half in the air and your body says "whoa, I'm about to flip over backwards" and shuts the throttle immediately bringing it back down.
A bike in a low wheelie is actually very stable.

If you're not sensible and don't start small first or try and get your practice in during rush hour on the M25 while filtering, then you're probably the sort that will crash your nice bike anyway.

When you get more confident with wheelies around balance point you're probably more likely to crash. But that's now what's being discussed.

I'd maybe agree if your daily riding took you through such lovely places as Lebanon or Afghanistan.

I kinda see what your getting at G. But lets face it, when you get the buzz from that surge of adrenalin as you lift your front wheel 1-2 feet from the floor no-one stops there. They push until they end up on their ass. Tell me I'm wrong.

To start with, yes they do stop there. And that was what I specified. So, yes, you're wrong Smile.
The majority of people take some time to get from un-loading the suspension to keeping it at or near the balance point.

Even then, while I have twice flipped wheelies and twice crashed after landing, many people I know have never crashed when wheeling, despite, like me, doing them on a daily basis.

Oh, and have you ridden through London recently or on the M25 at rush hour? Ok, my experiences with these tend be while filtering, but they sure aren't 'safe' places to be Smile.

Your wrong....As G says the natural reaction when learning to wheelie is to brick it when the wheel starts coming up. However when you are doing this on purpose you are concentrating on everything around you and what you are doing......same can't be said when most people are out and about on a regular ride.

I was trying to think about that - going back since I first ever did a wheelie (about ten years ago on a cg125, I reckon), I don't think I have ever really got an adrenaline rush or similar.
But then I find even when racing I only really get adrenaline when something goes wrong Neutral.

Not massively and not much ever really has, that I can think off, apart of course from stuff going bad or getting very close to going bad.

Sure I felt a bit of 'wow' first few times I rode a 600 sports bike, but not sure it was adrenaline really just a "whoa, this feels fast".

I enjoy riding bikes for the whole developing skills, pushing my limits, etc.
