OK so a GS500 does not have loads of power anyway but today it was raining really heavy and my bike decides to stop working properly.

Basically it started with it not holding revs very well at idle( like it needed choke but that did not help). Then it got progressively worse to the point where i was having to give it serious beans just to pull of slowly (6000 revs).

Even with giving the extra power i would still only craw away from the lights untill i got some speed and then it seemed to run ok.

There was no popping or back firing it was just like the bike had half the power.

Any thoughts on the first things to check?

Thanks

Some bikes just dont like the rain. Once water starts covering your electrics, then your bike will drop to running on one cylinder and run in the manner you describe.

Spray WD40 over your coils and HT Leads, that should disperse the moisture for the time being but look at sealing your HT leads with bath sealer (I kid you not) to permanently keep the water out of your plug caps.

That may make sence as i left it on the side stand and on a hill so i guess water could have gotten in to the spark plugs.

Have no WD40 at work so i hope it stops raining or i will ruin my clutch.

Thanks for the advice.
