Do you know if the bike was imported back to the UK at some point?

That's usually the reason for a difference in dates.

haven't a clue pal Sad

Draganfly Motorcycles can do an in depth research of the bikes history including finding out the first owner + extras that the bike left with for £9+vat so might get that done.

iirc during the 70's DVLA had a bit of a mess about and loads of vehicles lost their original registrations.

Maybe an older member can give some more info?

It will be on either an age related or reclaimed number plate Jamie.
Look at the documents and it should say " None Transferable" in one of the boxes. A lot of us do not fuss over such trivia and just use the same number on all our bikes.

The records were not centralised for much of the life of your bike.

All the best
