Being that the weather was nice today, I decided to go for a ride. Its the first time I've been out on the bike since I fitted some OE rearsets and it was 'interesting' to say the least.
It turned out that I had accidentally put my gear linkage on upside down and I had a 1 up 5 down gearbox!
I didn't notice until I was out on the road, I must have pulled away in second. Anyway I decided to leave it and keep going. I haven't really ridden much on the road since I got the NC30 so it was a good time to make sure everything was OK. I ended up staying out for about an hour, but the gearbox was very distracting. I didn't have a problem changing up gears, but I kept forgetting when changing down and ending up in too high a gear.
The roads were greasy and having not ridden a bike apart from the Gas Gas for a while, I felt a little rusty. I thought it would be good to keep the bike at max revs for a period of time so that I could check it was running OK. I also thought it might need a bit of a blast to clear the engine out. I kept the bike at 14k RPM along a dual carriageway, and stayed at about 70mph. Once I got to the end of the dual carriageway I realised I was in second gear! 
I took a few photos of my bike when I got back, so you NC30 addicts can have a look!
I also decided to fix the gear linkage for a 1 down 5 up arrangement, and did so as soon as I got back!

It was. The rim was dinged and had warped discs, so I bought a new one on ebay.
Craig, yeah I like the bike. It rides well, (apart from the fact that the rear brake is near ineffectual) but it has been neglected in the past. Upon examining the bike you can see that at least one of the previous owners has lavished affection on the bike, and then (probably the former owner to myself) crashed it, and left it in a shed or garage for probably over a year.
The exhaust has been welded numerous times, and the bike has things like braided hoses and a carbon fibre can. However the original braided hoses that were on the front had blue anodised fittings which were cracked and corroded to hell. They also weren't road legal. I bought some bits off of a member of this forum including some goodridge hoses and OE rearsets. The rearsets that were on the bike are no longer made, and one of the footpegs had snapped. I repaired it by drilling and tapping a hole in the stub of the peg, and bolting a nice fixed peg onto it. I felt that the rearsets were too high for commuting etc though, so I put the OE ones on there.
Most of the fasteners are anodised, and I replaced a load of faded pink/red anodised parts with some natural alloy ones.
I particularly like the pink anodised mudguard bolts!
The paintjob is obviously aftermarket, but its actually quite nice. The paint is thick and has a number of coats of laquer.
There are a couple of lugs missing off of some panels, but they all stay on OK. The only real niggle is the seat is only held on on one side because one of the mounting lugs on the tail unit has broken off. So the seat flaps about a bit, but once you're sitting on it its OK.
I've bought a new rear part of the exhaust, and I'm going to replace the welded one as it is covered in pinholes. Once thats done the bike should be quite nice. The front brakes aren't fantastic, but they work OK. Perhaps some more bleeding might help.
The suspension is surprisingly well damped and stiff. The bike handles well, and had new tyres just before it was crashed by the looks of things.
There is a slight scrape on the left hand fairing, but a bit of filler and it'll be right.
The bike is also surprisingly comfortable with the OE pegs. It has renthal grips which are really soft and actually quite a nice place to put your hands. For someone taller it might be a pain, but I like it.
I'm having difficulty remembering to rev the bike because it has such a surprisingly good midrange. I expected it to feel more like the RGV than the Buell, but it is very easy to ride in town.
I like it, but I'm not in love with the bike. If someone offered me some money for it, I'd probably sell in a heartbeat. But as a runaround that I don't care about too much, its ideal.
I'm kinda tempted to ditch it in March or so and buy me a nice cheap firestorm...

Is it worth putting braided hoses on the front? I'm not overly impressed with the brakes.

Do you care for some tippex marjay? 
Was it your NC30 that you took to spain on the track day?
It looks like a yamaha R6 which was built using lego duplo, hence why it is boxy. Unfortunately, a child trying to solve a maze drew over the honda wings on the tank resulting in what can only be described as "i gave up mummy"
I like the can and anodised red 
Hang on, your belly pan has 2 dzus fasteners and 1 standard? on each side. any particular reason for that. The only one i can think of is that the top one isn't flush with the panel or is on a curve, so you cant put em on?
Well, its a good toy, but i would have loved to have kept the buell as something unique.

Thats how the kit came from Pro-bolt. I'm guessing its because there is a hex nut behind the round headed bolts (welded to the fairing bracket) , and quick release parts connecting the top and the bottom fairing (with no fairing bracket) on the other holes.

I would have liked to, but I needed the money to buy a new car. And I never rode the Buell as it was too nice. I was always worried that it would corrode or break down or something. Probably unfounded worries, but worries nonetheless. To be fair the NC30 has broken down more than the Buell... the clutch cable snapped! The Buell never broke down on me at all.
It actually changes gear much better now that I have replaced the clutch cable too!
