On my BROS, both the left and right controls turn far too freely on the bars. Is there a generally accepted method to stop the movement? Gaffa tape? Some beastly glue, epoxy or whatever? Or is there something specific to the task?

Tried a search and came up with nowt, cheers in advance. Laughing

Are you saying that the plastic husings that contain the switchgear are not tight on the bars and can turn?

If you cannot stop the movement by tightening the screws then you could either put a turn of masking tape on the bars, or some thin rubber like a bicycle repair patch for extra grip, or even better remove the housings and lay a sheet of 240 grip sandpaper on a flat surface and rub the flat mating-surfae of one half of a housing down half a millimeter so they clamp-up tighter on the bars.

Presuming no one has stripped any of the screws that clamp the halves together so they aren't tightening or someone hasn't replaced any screws with ones that are too long and are bottoming out in the holes, then there isn't really any reason why they should have suddenly become slack.

Take them apart, make sure the holes are clear of any rubbish. Check that when you hold the halves around the bar there is a slight gap. Honda (on their old machines) always said tighten the front screw first then nip with the rear screw until tight on the bars.

If all else fails, tape around the bars but you really shouldn't need it.

The usual thing is to wrap some PVC tape round the bar under the switchgear. Works fine.

Hasn't suddenly become slack, has been since buying the bike!.

Screws wont budge, can't get a driver to lock in on the heads, they've obviously been abused in the past..

1st choice - impact driver if there is any slot left.

If the heads are totally shagged, drill them off, seperate the halves, WD40 then use mole grips to get the remains of the the screws out.
