Heya,

I am having problems with my mates bike. Its and sv650 and until now has started fine. However the other day when we started it, it wouldn't start on electric. Then suddenly we heard a loud crack. From then on, if it's in any gear with the clutch lever held in, it won't free wheel, its really stiff and given a shove the rear wheel just locks up!!

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Hi

Take the clutch off and have a look. Had a similar problem with failed thrust bearings in the clutch, but suspect (from the noise) something more serious (maybe broken pressure plate).

All the best

Keith

I hate to sound patronising but have you checked the clutch cable?

Not patronising at all, we all make simple mistakes like that Wink

If it's not the clutch cable, as suggested, take the clutch off, have a look and see what you can find.

It does sound very much like the clutch cable or clutch release mechanism.
