Hey guys.

Is the NEC good for cheap gear? Thinking of going sunday for some kit, how much cheaper is it than retail?

Pretty good. Although always good to have a mate at home who has internet access. Thus you can give them a ring and check out the price before buying.

Cheers

Just come back from there.

There's loads of cheap gear, just gotta find them.

J&S stand - ''Flood Damaged stock'', 1 & 2pc leathers, £75, textiles cheaper.

I got a Texport 2pc leather suit in really contrasting colours for £130 from £150 as it needs a new zipper on the fly. (Anyone know any cheap repair places?)

Other stands are doing offers as well. Seen leathers, gloves, Boots, lids, etc cheaper than the shops. If I wasn't on a £200 limit, i'd most definatley got lots more stuff.

Worth going for the mini moto's alone Mr. Green

Is Sunday the day that it's the cheapest?
Can you pay on the door?
Is there places to try stuff on?

Cheers! ;P

Well I went on Wednesday looking for specific boots and a lid. I traipsed round the trade hall on arrival, thinking it would be a bit quieter. And I was right. Got the best price on an Arai lid from Helmet City. Had to barter a bit, and I didn't expect to get much off the 'show average' of £260, but the guys there were happy with £240 (retail is £324.99).

Then I went in to the other hall and saw the massive helmet aisle and spent another 30 mins checking I got a bargain. But I did. Helmet City is definitely the cheapest there for lids.

Boots, I dunno. There were so many stands selling Alpinestars kit, but not all the sizes and colours I just gave up in the end. I did get a whiff of a good deal from one place near the stunt show bit - looked like last years SMX (3?) for £110, but I've seen them cheaper on fleabay to be honest.

In my experience, these things are rarely great for cheap gear, especially when you consider the other costs involved.
However, they are good for having a hell of a lot of choice in one place.

When I went on Monday there was a store by the Arai stand selling RX7 Corsairs for £375. I don't think anyone on the net sells for that price?

I got a set of J&S branded 2 piece leathers for £70 and decent gloves for £20. saw a few nice lids for £30-£40 but didn't need one.

Mini-Moto's and karting was top notch, considering scouring Ebay for one(mini moto).

Also got a new red Yamaha backpack for a tenner which is made out of pretty decent stuff, well worth the trip.

Stelmer, I won't blame you if you decide to put those leathers at the back of the wardrobe....... Laughing

They've kinda grown on me. Plus, my parents love them as it shows i'm being safe with them having fluorescent patches.

Oh yes, they partly glow at night........

Anyway, fitted them heated grips and i love them. Also put my ground anchor in but went slightly wrong.

I put it to far back, unless i can get a 3' chain I can only lock the rear wheel to it. Mind you, I have 2 disklocks on the front.

Had a good luck round the bike and did the speedo bulbs which are just fruit machine bulbs so don't cost me owt.

Due to the J&S stand, most of the other retailers were giving huge discounts. I got a pretty decent off road lid for £39.

Was good for kit this year, they had a whole hall for it. This was the first time it was better than the old Ally Pally show for kit. But I guess now Ally Pally is defunct, all of the retailers go to the NEC now.
