Hi all, Yet another nooby question from pyro Smile

I've noticed when cornering at speed (well ~50) and when going round roundabouts at about 20mph with quite a bit of lean, the bike itself trys to pivot steer, that is to say turn the bars into the corner/direction of lean. Obviously it isnt enough to have me off, or I'd have crashed by now, but it does leave me unsure of the bikes ability to corner and therefore forcing me to keep having to overcountersteer whilst cornering and not focus on whats going on around as much as I could due to the need to keep correcting the steering.

It was suggested to me on Msn to a member on here that the bearings could be on their way out, Is this the case? And how much would I be looking to pay for the labour to have new ones fitted, the bearings themselves are around £30.

Apart from that, hanging off feels a lot more natural than just leaning the bike over.

Put the bike on the center stand and push down on the back seat then
turn the bars and see if they stick a bit in the middle. If it does then they
are pitted and need to be changed.
If you hold the front brake and push the bike forward you will feel if they
need to be adjusted.

Paddy.

First off, tyre pressures - check them.

Steering head bearings - hold the front brake and push the bars forward. If you feel a click it can indicate a problem, but in some case may be the brake disc.

Putting your finger on the frame where the yolk goes in, pushing against it should give an idea if it's moving.

Wheel bearings and tyre condition could also cause problems.

Yeah, I did crash my bike the other day, But it was low speed and I had this problem before. And the only thing damaged in that was my foot as it pretty much buffered the landing Smile

Tire pressures I think are correct, I'll check tomorow, the condition of them is ok ish. Quite worn, and a few bits that look like they might develop into cracks shortly. There seems to be a little play when put the front brake on then push forward and down hard. I'm taking it to get choked in a couple of days, so I'll get them to have a look, but is it dangerous to continue riding on it anyway?

Its probably not immediately dangerous, if you can manage riding with it then you can probably put off repairing it for a little while if you must.
My bike currently has a blown front fork seal and im starting to notice the bumps in the road allot more, better get that fixed.

It could well be the tyre pressure, i had a blown rear tyre and it had me confused for hours thinking i had buckled the front wheel, one of your tyres might be out of spec.

Think I mentioned to you when you bought it that it would need a new front tyre very soon. The profile of it is irregular and it's this that I bet you're feeling as you tip in. If you think it doesn't corner then you haven't noticed the pegs Wink

Sorry to hear about your accident.
