It was like chucking a sausage down an alleyway today and I'm feeling a little deflated. Sad

With my helmet coming up to neigh on 2 years old this summer It'd be nice to have a new lid with; maybe an external visor, but one thats a little more trendy.

Finished work early so off to the Leigh On Sea branch of www.Harpersraceshop.co.uk to have a try of the Airoh TR1.

https://www2.ibike.com.hk/client/motomart/images/52885t_1.jpg

Would you Adam and Eve it, my head just wiggled around in it as the amount of padding was almost a minimum. Tried the flip front version, the same?

Always fancied a Boxer so stuck it on the old bonce, can you guess what happened?

Yep, my head must be so narrow or lacking check bones that it just did not fit.

My cheap as ass Teckachi gives the old Hamster face so am I going to be forced into certain brands or makes? I know that people are either a Shoei or Arai shaped head but whats the deal with the variety of different fits?

Same as shoes I suppose, everyone is slightly different so the manufacturers all make slightly different shapes depending on who their core market are.

you did try a smalle size didnt you? Laughing a med in one is different to a med in another make.

Out of curiosity how did you find the staff in harpers?
Just that i went in there recently to get a 1pc set of leathers - had £600 burning a hole and all that. Asked the salesman if he had anything in a 38 or 40 and he just replied ' No, you can try these 44's though'. Not the most helpful really! Ended up trying on at the excel and buying from cissbury online - they lost out on £844 because of the unhelpful attitude.

Does that mean they base their core market on face and head shape?

Ha, I remember going there for some two stroke when I was 16 on my Honda melody. My mates dad said to put half a tank of petrol in and half a tank of two stroke, I was naive and went along with it, filled the remaining half a tank with oil outside sopers, and then rode home wondering why I had no power and massive plumes of smoke behind me. I have a golden rule for saving money and increasing awareness in sales staff.
If you are not nice to me then I will not be nice to you and give you some of my money...... Laughing

Never buy from anywhere grumpy and/or unhelpful. You have to consider the reaction you would face if you need to return something. Crying or Very sad

You have feets. Use 'em. Shocked

If you have a pea size head it's always difficult to find a good fit in men's sizes.... Razz

I tried so many make helmets on before I got mine. I spent a day putting them on and taking them off. . . . I was starting to think that I was never gonna find one.

Then an Arai extra small felt perfect! Smile

I still had to have the neck area padded out in that, but apparantly that is common in girls. . .

Just keep trying and you will know when you've found your perfect fit! Wink

One of my old lids was an Airoh Matthise, 90 quid jobbie if i recall correctly... Protected my head in a crash, and is now a spare lid for unsuspecting pillions Shocked

If your budget can stretch to it i HIGHLY reccommend a Shoei Multitec, comes with a nicely tinted visor is very strongly made and incredibly light, is also far and away the best flip-up lid i have owned and tried on better for me than Airoh/Nolan/Caberg etc looks nice too

Had a V2 and sold it when the ZXR went to the bendy road in the sky.

Wind noise doesn't bother me for some reason. I'm either deaf or just immune to it? The iPod helps I suppose.

The thing is that I don't have a small head. I wouldn't have been surprised if I had a job to get it on, but for it to be loose?

Felt like a burk trying them on and posing in front of a mirror, like walking up and down in a shoe shop when your mum was making you have new school shoes.

No, but if they sell most lids in a certain country then they'd optimise the design for that head shape.....
