honda bros 400

Iv'e got the chance of getting a Honda bros 400 very cheap, wondered if anyone on here as had one and can give me any pointers i.e are spares available, are they relaible etc,

Check the front disc isn't warped or the caliper seized, £150 for a new disc. Check the tabs on the chain adjuster to see if anybody has been smacking them with a screwdriver, it is a good sign if they have the C-spanner. If the seller allows you to, take the cover off the fuel pump (on the right hand side just below the seat) and check the points, if they are badly corroded or pitted it could fail and the bike will not run without it.

Apart from that just the usual stuff, they have a very good reputation for being reliable. Once I had mine sorted it was great and still is.

Sickpup currently has a load of parts for a Bros 400, which are semi compatble with an NTV/Bros 650.

That said if Sickpup can do 220,000km on one , they are kind of reliable.

I find the 650 underpowered on larger open straight roads over here in New Zealand for my tastes. On twisty tight lanes though the handling and braking is great, I can see why some people might complain about the suspension being too soft but apparently a FireBlade shock goes in and you could add stiffer springs, but I only notice this when I have a pillion as I'm so light weight. The tank range can be a little bit annoying but otherwise it's a great bike.
