moneysavingexpert.com are currently running a campaign to get a song about reclaiming bank charges to number one in Jan, the date of a bank charges reclaiming test case.

Register with them now for 50p (MSE/record company/band make no profit) and you'll get a link in Jan to download the song from the net.

More people have signed up at the moment than the spice girls singles sales, so it looks good!

Of course he wont be 'profiting from the song'

If you happen to go to his website however, he will be getting a nice sum of money Wink

Where is it you can order the song? oh that's right, his website Wink

So he should set up a special website and pay the costs associated with that for just this song? Get real!

Do you seriously think he's running this song thing to make a profit?

Shock horror he makes a profit from his website. Why would you begrudge someone making a living from their business?
Despite which camp you fall into regarding Bank charges he does offer very useful information regarding savings, insurance and other financial products and I've referenced a lot of information from the site when I was in the process of buying my house. He IS providing a service, both through his website and the forums (which are a good source of information, much like this one) I don't think it unreasonable that he makes some money on the way.

Thursdays top tip
Members of the British public. Avoid paying excessive bank charges by not spending money you don't have.

I have a good idea on how to deal with the problem of bank charges. anyone who sends in a letter complaining about them should have them refunded in full but should then be banned from holding a bank account of any sort for the next 12 months

Instead they should be issued with a biscuit tin into which they can deposit their money as cash and store it under their bed. Once all that money is spent, well, tough shit. After 12 months the lesson should have sunk in, if you don't have it, you don't get to spend it.
