Changing Speedo Faces (99 Hornet)

Morning,
I'm trying to swap my new clean speedo face from my new set of clocks to my old speedometer (the face on the old one is scratched). I've unscrewed the face from the unit but I can't get it off because it's behind the needle. Surely someone on here has swapped clock faces before. Do I just pull the needle off or is there a way to do it?

I'd have thought that it just pulls off. I suspect the shaft has a D shaped cross section so the needle doesn't move.

I doubt they are glued on or anything, more than likely just interference fit.
