PostPosted: 18:59 - 20 Nov 2007    Post subject: Mobile contract help Reply with quote

Hi i asked this a couple of months ago about how do i go about cancelling my contract. And was told to do it in writing.

Now, i sent my letter to O2 about 3-4 weeks ago and have got no confirmation of them recieving the letter, i also rang O2 directly and asked and they said they havent recieved anything, so ive sent another last friday and same response ( We havent recieved owt)

Now i have copies of these letters, so im wondering am i ok to go directly to my bank and ask them to cancel the Direct Debit O2 are taking out of my account. Or will i get taken to court.

Because the £29.99 O2 are chargin me for the contract that was supposed to have ended on September the 7th 2007 is still being taken out., could be used on better things.

erm take it by hand to the Bury 02 centre and have somebody sign for it take photos?

Its an old scam, we didn't receive it in the post scam which Gyms try on all the time.

Just bring a clip board and package it in a big parcel and get them to sign nobody reads the fedex/DHL sign thingies anyway.

They try we didn't get it thing again its fraud baby, since fraud falls into money laundering laws , and money laundering has NO deminis limit threaten them with this.

Or go on watchdog, and report it, this will #1 get you on TV, #2 instantly get you your money back.

Send an email to this guy:

peter.erskine@o2.co.uk

He's the CEO, and whilst he wont respond, it'll get passed to the team that deals with people who are really hacked off.

I got 6 months free line rental for cocked up order.

Block the phone will be the starter.

Op,
Are 02 providing you any service for the payment, ie are you still using the service. Or have you switched to another provider.
Bank wont need any proof of the contract ending, they will just action undr the DD indemity.
As someone else said send via recorded delivery.

I just have the sim card sat on my bed side cabinet doing nothing. So basically just pissing £29.99 a month away for nothing.

So should i just go to the bank cancel the DD and send another letter recorded delivery?

Debt collectors, block phone ruin your credit rating for years . . . . Its breach of contract, not worth even thinking about.

Guess I was lucky then, they phoned me to tell me the payment had been refused to which I replied that I had informed them by post that I was cancelling. Sim was switched off within a couple of hours. Never heard from them again. Contract is for twelve months not for life, unless you renew it, agree to something different, get a new phone or a change of service. Did the same with Sky and TalkTalk, no problem.

Two posts have mentioned phone locking as a bad point, surely thats the point?

Since when do you have to send them a letter?

I've cancelled my phone contract over the phone 5 or 6 times, sometimes with O2 too.

Up to you really. For the sake of 50p you could send it again registered then cancel your direct debit. Can't remember seeing if you were out of the contract period, guess you are or you would of said so?

no matter how long the contract is you will find in one of the clauses within the contract that you have to give them 1 months notice to cancel.

phone customer services from the contract sim and cancel, they will usally be happy to do it over the phone but if they want it in writing then post recorded delivery.

by going into bank and just cancelling without sorting it out with your network provider will just come back and bite you in the ass in months to come. been there done it and had the bloody big bill to pay.

Try emailing them at this address - disconnections242@o2.com

I did this recently and my connection ends 18th Dec. They never mentioned the need to send any letter of notice and i had asked in my email for them to detail any action I was required to take so they have no come back if my contract is not cancelled as and when it should be.

Hope that helps!
