I've had it a few weeks now (and finished the project) so I thought I'd post it up...

I've always liked these bikes, so when I saw one going cheap on ebay not that far from me I couldn't not buy it. It cost me £100, which I reckon was a fairly good price. It didn't have tax or MOT but was a good runner despite having 40,000 miles on the clock.

I picked it up the day after the auction from Barnstaple and rode it home. I was very pleasantly surprised with how it rode (considering it had been pissing it down with rain and the bike had a completely bald rear tyre). For the MOT it needed a new rear tyre, rear shocks and front wheel bearing. Fortunately my local bike shop had all the bits in stock so I fixed it up and got an MOT.

I've been pottering around on it for a couple of weeks now and it's fairly nice to ride, if little a bit slow. UBG has it as having 16bhp - it would be nice if it had maybe 20-25bhp and an extra gear (has a 4-speed 'box). I've had a shade over 70mph out of it which is about the same as the CG125 I've ridden but it does have more torque than the CG. One thing I really like about it is the sound, it's quite meaty for such a tiny bike!

I probably won't keep it that long but the MOT tester reckoned I might be able to make a reasonable profit on it.

Anyway, a couple of pics:

Nice bike, I used to have a 70s Honda.

A black bomber would have been pretty cool at the time.

Thumbs Up

good choice, there solid engines as long as you dont thrap the bolocks out of em Thumbs Up not that youd need to with all the low down torque.

cheers
John

stinkwheel Well I just had my hands up a pigs fanny. Which makes your concerns pale into insignificance.
