I'd go into Boots or Vision Express or somewhere big and try them on. I had a strong idea of what I wanted first, then when I tried lots of similar frames on and discovered that I looked even more of a librarian I had to change my mind and go for something that actually suited me.

If you are a cheapskate like me and not too fashion conscious, Tesco do frames, look ok to me, will be getting some at the weekend methinks.

I prefer to go to a local opticians. And get my eye test and then pick new frames out of the hundreds they have.

Would rather give a local business money than a large company!!

You may feel lie a tit and grow tiresome of saying 'no thanks' to the sales assistants offerings of help, but the more you try on the better and easier it gets.

You will find frames that you think would look cool and look pants and others that are more 'radical' that suit.

I wear contacts as I'm vain but do have some D&G glasses for the odd times that I am on nights or just tired and they set me back £280 inc lens' and are nothing special. The wife paid £100 BOGOF for her glasses and gets comments about them all the time as they are different and unique (not Dame Edna stylee).

Go to a few local opticians or the like of specsavers and try some on.

Finding a pair that fit and are comfortable is the 1st bit. Once you have that, take the details off the frame and do a online search. You may then find the same pair for less.
But just remember if anything needs adjusting, dont expect the local optician to do it for free.....

Blooming heck 7-10 days? I got mine from a local family run opticians less than an hour after my eye test! Gotta love service like that!

Ah how I wish for those days, when everything was done in-house, sadly round here all the indpendants have either retired or sold-out to the big firms. Now I just get a prescription and buy on-line, I'll wait 7-10 days for a pair of spec if it's means I don't pay high street prices.

Got some from both these places last earlier this year; couldn't choose so got two pairs, and it's only a matter of time before I sit on one of them.

www.perfectspecs.co.uk - can try-before-you-order for about £4
www.selectspecs.com - pretty good for customer service
