I need to get a cheap bike as mine is with the insurance company because some tosser hit me on a roundabout and won't admit liabillity (I was on the roundabout he pulled out from the left) I have had a hire bike for 3 months but now the insurance say 3 months is as long as I can have a hire bike for because they have trouble recouping costs Evil or Very Mad

This leaves me without a bike to get to and from work (Nights in london) I'm not taking the fucking train so I need a bike, anyway.

I have seen a few commutury 500's I could have but I need restrictors for them. One is a ER5 I was wondering if anyone has old restrictors I could buy/diamentions so I could get some made up?

Or if anyone has the same for anyother hack/commuter type bikes, there is no way in hell I am paying £200 for a couple of sodding washers

Cheers guys.

Im sure you know already but just for posterity:

The law in no way specifies what method should be used to restrict a bike to 33hp,

Nor is it practical for your bike to be examined by the side of the road by even traffic police, If they dont believe you that you are restricted, you will be given a producer (if the police was snotty) specifying you must produce "33bhp certificate" likely crudely written in. That is even if the officer is aware of the 33bhp restriction laws.

So now, at worst case scenario you have to produce "proof" of your restriction to the police station of your choosing within 7 days... The person thats signs off on your "proof" is not the officer who dident believe you, but a desk clerk, who 99% of the time couldent tell the difference between a ZX6R and a CG125, let alone know about what you are showing them...

All you need is a letter on headed paper of some sort specifying the date and time and just look up the part number of any restrictor...

Bobs your uncle...

In my opinion restricting a 500 is robbing it of what little power it has.

OFC technically if you had some nasty crash and the insurance company found there were no "restrictors" in place technically your insurance would be void. But again how are they to know how you had the bike restricted... Ok theres no washers in the carbs... But you had a restricted throttle action dident you?... Or after a crash there is usually a period of at least a couple of days if not weeks before an insurance inspector actually visits... Pleanty of time to get the washers and put them in...

Badly thought out law with many, many loopholes...

I should have some lying around somewhere, when Karen got her ER-5 I got a few sets made up. Now I just need to try and find them. I'll give you a shout if I manage to lay my hands on them.
